Slowly you bring the cup of tea to your mouth and take a sip before placing it back down. Outside it was slightly raining, making the vibe of the room very calming. You had been invited to have tea with Bridget in Bergen town along with Poppy. At first you had been hesitant to come back to Bergen town so soon after everything had happened but Poppy had convinced you to come and there was no chance that you were gonna let her go alone. So here you were back in Bergen town having a cup of tea like nothing happened.
It wasn't like you hated the Bergens or anything, it was just hard to forget the trauma and the feel of those cold, dark dungeons.
Taking a deep breath in you try to focus back into the conversation that was being disgusted at the moment. Poppy and Bridget seemed to be talking about their discoveries they had made about their royal lives and duties. You just listened to their lively chatter while relaxing into your seat.
Soon the topic of discussion changed. Bridget had begun to talk about how it was like to live in a castle without having to be the scullery maid in the basement cleaning anymore.
"It's just wonderful." she said with a sparkle in her eyes.
"I bet it is!" Poppy said in excitement, before taking a drink from her much too big tea cup. The Bergen who had served the tea you were having didn't have a smaller set that Poppy could use. But she seemed to manage, even if you had to help her pick it up some times.
"So Y/N what's your home like? Is it nice?" Bridget asked you politely with a hint of excitement behind.
"Umm." you say unsure of how to answer. "I don't have one." you say bluntly.
"That's great-wait what?" she turned to you in shock when what you had said finally clicked in her mind. "You don't have a place where you can just rest or-or eat and relax? Where do you sleep?"
You shift in your seat uncomfortably. You had ever really minded living and sleeping out in the forest with only your leaf blanket and pillow. But now that it was being said out loud you realized how hard it had been sometimes for you.
Things like the rain and cold have always been a problem for you as well as storing food without it getting eaten.
You look at her "I usually just sleep on the floor or under a tree when it's windy or raining."
Bridget was mortified when you finished talking. "That's not fair, especially with me living in a castle." she said sadly looking around the room with its tall windows and fancy paintings.
"Don't worry Bridget, it's not that bad." you half lie, hiding behind your tea cup.
Bridget on the other hand was to be in deep contemplation before leaning towards Poppy sitting on the table in front of her and whispering something to her.
Giving them suspicious glances you wonder what they were up to. Though the answer seemed pretty clear.
The two of them seemed to be in agreement with whatever Bridget just said and giggled about it.
"You guys gonna tell me what's so funny?" you inquired.
Poppy stood up "it's a secret Y/N we can't tell you."
You rolled your eyes at this and noticed that most of the tea was gone. "Do you think it's time to go now Poppy?"
She looked up at a grandfather clock and nodded solemnly.
"Alright then." you say picking up your old black coat from the seat. "Thank you princess Bridget for having us." you say jokingly with a bow.
"Your welcome Y/N and Poppy." she said back.
