[ this is NOT poland x ukraine. i don't ship pieces of land! im not dumb! enjoy btw ]I looked out my window, questioning the fighter jet that stayed completely still. I couldn't make out who it was, but it must have been about something that UN was talking about earlier. It stayed there for around a couple hours before finally leaving. It was really suspicious, but I decided to let it go and do something else.
I heard noises outside my window. I was scared that it had something to do with what UN said, but it wasn't. Luckily, it was just Ukraine.
"Польща, the door was locked, so I had to climb up here. Sorry about that.."
"It's okay!" I grabbed her hand and pulled her inside.
"Oh, Дякую!" (translation: thank you) She smiled and walked around my apartment. She immediately came back as soon she was done looking around. "I was going to tell you, I saw a guy in a black suit this morning. I didn't know who he was. Do you think you might know?"
"I think I know."
"Good, what's his name? Rosiya wanted to find him as soon as he can."
Once she asked that, I got a little bit more worried about it. I knew that it had something to do with my past, so I didn't want to say anything.
"His name.. is.. uhm. Third Reich. I don't know!" I hesitated, trying not to feel too worried.
"It's okay, друг!" (translation: friend)
"Третий рейх? Хорошо спасибо." Russia shouted, trying to get Ukraine away from my apartment. "Давай, Украина! Спускайся сейчас же!" I could tell Russia was really impatient.
"Well, I have to go. Bye Польща!" Ukraine of course struggled to get down from such a high place. I pushed her down just to help her.

Later that night, I went to Germany's place right across from mine. I knocked on the door, but there was no response. A little paper slid through the door saying "I'm not home right now.". I took out a pencil and flipped the paper over, writing "How did this get to me then?" and slid it back through the door.
As I walked away, it came back. I returned and read "I meant to say Deutschland wasn't here. Who are you?". I flipped it over and wrote "Polska.." and put it back in there. I ran back into my apartment, closing the door.
I went back outside and saw if a note was there, but there wasn't. I went back inside to do something else.
I was trying to figure out when the next meeting was. It was tomorrow! I looked outside, trying to see if Germany was somewhere nearby. Sadly, he wasn't. I was really confused about where he went. It kind of scared me a bit. The last time he was like this was all the way back in world war two.
I suddenly had a really good idea. I grabbed one of those tiny notepads and a pencil, at least one of those that were actually sharpened. I put on my shoes and walked out of my apartment. I walked down the steps to the door, worrying about where my best friend was at. I was hoping he was okay.
When I walked outside, I tried to look for someone to question. Luckily, I spotted Austria really quickly! I ran over to her and tapped her on the head since she was so small.
"Hm? Oh hey Polen! Why so sad?"
"I can't find Niemcy. Have you seen him anywhere?"
"Not at all, I'm sorry." She took out something from her bag. "Here, you need this! It's important for you!" She gave me a paper with handwriting on it that I would never understand. It was all in cursive, and it was in a different language, so it was too hard for me to understand.
"Next time you see Deutsch, please give this to him! I wanted to give it to him last night, but he was nowhere to be found!"
"Okay."
....................................................................
As soon as I got home, I locked the door so nobody could get in. I went to my room and grabbed my phone to open a translator app. I took a picture of the note and finally found out what it said in English.
"Please return to me! I miss you! You need to return in order to not start another war! You don't need to be replaced. History will never ever repeat itself when it comes to you. Return home, it's important for you! I care about you, but when you leave, it makes me think world war three has finally began!
-Austria"
I finally understood what it read. I started to feel really bad about what could happen if Germany never came back. We were always friends, except for world war two, but that was about it! Except that, we were always best friends.
I found that the next meeting was tomorrow, so I was hoping that was the next time I would see him. I looked towards the door to outside and thought of the best idea. I got my shoes on and walked out the door. It was pretty close to the time we had to go back, but I decided to be brave and knock on the door to Germany's apartment.
I knocked on the door, awaiting a response. After a few minutes, there was still no response, but then I heard the announcement.
"Attention EU members, it is now time for lights out! Please go back home and turn off your lights. We will check the cameras at 20:00! Thank you!"
I walked back to my apartment and locked the door. I still had the note and I decided to lay it on my desk. I remembered what it said, nd it just made me feel bad. I started to think of what could happen, but when I asked myself such a terrible, terrible question.
"What if he was dead?"
1009 words.
