“Run! Run!” I screamed! These monstrous creatures were chasing me and my sister. They had claws and were about 6ft tall. I stumbled over a root, but quickly regained my balance. The creatures were gaining on us. We needed to pick up our pace. The black forest seemed to swallow us up in its darkness. That’s when the claws sunk into the back of my neck and pulled me down to the ground. “Run Kylie! Run!” I screeched.

I jolted straight up in bed. I yanked the covers off of myself and stumbled around my bedroom reaching for the doorknob. Trotting down the hallway to the kitchen, I rubbed the back of my neck. I reached for a bright purple plastic cup in the cabinet, switching on the light as I did. I slowly made my way over to the refrigerator, still groggy from sleep. I poured myself some juice then sat down at our oak wood dining table. I drank my juice, thinking. I thought that these nightmares would go away after a while, but no! I hadn’t had this one since I was 6 or 7. It seems to reoccur every few years. The nightmares were always in different settings, but with the same monstrous creatures. I had seen many therapists, none of them ever being able to find the cause to my dreams. I finished up my juice and put the cup in the sink with the other dirty dishes, I really needed to get around to cleaning them sometime, then I slithered down the hall back into my bedroom, tripping over a blanket I had left on the floor. I clumsily climbed back into bed and pulled my polka-dotted comforter back over myself. I snuggled down underneath my comforter and slipped back into unconsciousness.
