Chapter 4:
I trot down the stairs into the living room. I grab my homework out of my backpack and sit down on the couch. I flip my notebook open to the math section. I’m supposed to do 20 fraction problems. That shouldn’t be that hard, I think to myself. I quickly get to work.
I’ve done 15 problems when my mom calls me to dinner. I set my notebook down and trudge into the kitchen. Dinner is always lonely when Kylie isn’t there. She always knows how to keep a conversation going, and without her the conversations get boring pretty fast. I pull out a chair and sit down.
Dinner seems as if its over in only a couple of minutes. We said prayer, ate, talked a little, ate some more, and that was it. I headed back upstairs to finish some other home work, then I trotted over to Kylie’s room to see how she was doing. “Kylie?” I asked, hesitantly knocking on her door. “Mm hm?” She grumbled. I opened the door and let myself in. "Feeling any better?" I ask. "No." Kylie mumbles. "Oh, well I'm sorry. I hope you feel better soon." I say. I walk out of the room, turning the light off behind me.
