After countless sleepless nights, bad food, strange kingdoms and towns, the trio was finally nearing Camelot. For Agatha, this gave her mixed feelings. She felt relieved because it meant they would stay at one place only, no moreo moving, but it was also horrible because this was it, she was going to Camelot. She wished she could avoid this whole thing, she thought she would die alone at Gavaldon, fate punched her in the face. After three weeks, they started seeing the beautiful kingdom become closer. The trees decreased in number, the amount of people they saw increased, and instead of dirt and grass, the ground was now cobblestone. And even though she didn't want to be here, Agatha had to admit it was a stunning place. They were passing through the commercial zone, according to Tristan at least. There were a lot of traders like in any other market, but everything looked more expensive than it did in Gavaldon. Even the cheapest things.
What remained the same in both places was the admirers. Many people looked in awe at the passing trio, obviously they knew they belonged to a high class place. The bad thing was, well, they stared at Agatha way too much. Some whispered , others just stared confused. What were two guards doing with someone like her? Then it hit her: if low class people looked at her like this, then the pompous royalty would kick her out in five seconds.
Miles after this, the architecture became even more extravagant. Higher columns, bigger arches, more windows. More of everything. And then she saw it. They were mere moments away from the grand castle. Only a long bridge separated them. The castle was rather magnificent, made of cream colored bricks, three great towers stood high, while other structures laid behind it
Agatha felt sick to her stomach, she didn't know why, maybe because everything was too overwhelming at the moment. It only got worse when they crossed the bridge, she had never experienced vertigo before, but she felt as if the world would spin so hard that she was going to fly out, her palms sweated and her heart hammered against her chest.
You're gonna be okay, you'll survive She said to herself but she was lying, how could she be okay?
"We are going to reach the moat in a couple seconds" Chaddick announced, Agatha felt even worse.
A drawbridge was lowered, it connected the bridge with the castle, another guard soon appeared
"Nicholas, take the horses to the stables. We have a princess to escort"Tristan said, the said Nicholas guy pointed and asked:
"Her?"
"Yes, now, you and Chaddick go. I'll take her" Tristan got of his horse and then helped Agatha, he took her by the waist and lowered her to the ground. He also got her belongings for her
"I could carry that you know" Agatha observed
"No way, princess, I am at your service" Tristan said grinning, Agatha grimaced at the word "princess"
"Technically I am not a princess " Agatha retorted
"Yet, my lady, yet" Tristan said "Now, follow me, you're in for a treat"
Agatha stared at the giant opening in front of her. She had to admit, she was completely ignorant of castles, so she just walked looking at the building.
"We will be entering what we call the Inner Court, which looks kind of a plaza, but inside of a castle" Tristan explained. The 'inner court' did look like he described, some people were there, there were wells and they were getting water. They walked over the extensive court, again, some people curiously looked but did not get any closer, the two kept walking until they reached a door
"We've reached what we call a 'keep', which is the main tower of the castle" Tristan explained,he signaled someone to open the door, while Agatha looked at the 'keep'. It was a tower made of cream colored bricks, it seemed at least 30 meters high. Then, someone let them in. Another guard. This one had black hair and strange violet eyes
"About time you arrived, it has been almost two months" He said grumpily, the three went into the keep, it was a very dark structure, barely any torches to light it, the guard took them to the right and went up spiral staircases, he then said to Tristan:
"Almost two months and you bring this? Wow, you were desperate" He snorted
"I know she's not pretty, but she has a working brain, and won't try to tak
e over the throne" Tristan replied
"I hope you do realize I am standing right here" Agatha said annoyed
"You are so lovely, aren't you?" The guard snorted, they kept going up the stairs until they reached a third floor and took a left. This was a much nicer part, the floors were had a red and gold carpet, the walls were also a deep shade of red, with several paintings to adorn them. There were a lot of doors that Agatha didn't know what they could hide.
They arrived to two big wooden doors, the guard got the keys and opened them. There were the biggest chambers Agatha had seen in her whole life. There was a huge balcony to the side of the room, the walls were painted a light shade of blue with a red pattern, there was also a chimney, there was a small, round table, it had a couple of saints, a night table and finally, a bed that looked so comfortable Agatha wanted to curl up and sleep. It even had curtains attached to the poles.
"Well, this will be your room for a while, at least until you get married" Tristan said, dropping her stuff on the floor, as Agatha was approaching her bed to sleep, Tristan called her
"As much as I would love for you to sleep, you actually need to meet the prince and the king" Agatha's face fell.
"Why now?" She asked, followed by a groan
"Because we weren't looking for you for so long so you can crash to the bed now. Let's go"
And so they left the room, and to the left, went downstairs, walked past who knows how many rooms, while Agatha mentally cursed this whole place. The guards, the king, the prince, whoever who had this idea, the kingdom itself. Now she was probably going to be studied like an animal.
They stopped. Another two doors shut became open, she saw to figures. Agatha wanted to escape.
A.N: Finally! They made it into the castle, what did you guys think? I held off the Agatha and Tedros meeting for another chapter for the sake of not rushing, but I promise next chapter they will meet, and it will be...interesting. Please, please, please leave a review!
