when they arrive, they aren't even that late, only 20 minutes, but wooyoung can already hear music blasting from inside the apartment. he can't make out the lyrics of the song but he can already tell that tonight is going to be something. despite his dislike for parties he is weirdly hyped for tonight. maybe it's yeosang, who will be there, making sure he won't be alone. maybe it's being able to let loose for once, not having to think about everything going on inside of him.

he looks over at san, who's once again staring at him. he does it often, wooyoung has noticed. he hasn't said anything, because he doesn't really mind, but it is a little weird, considering they've only known each other for a few weeks. whenever he catches san staring him wonders what is going on inside his head. he isn't sure if san is doing it because he's intrigued or if it's because of something else.

wooyoung is being transported back to reality when suddenly the door opens and someone he has never seen before is standing in front of the two of them. the stranger is very tall and wooyoung is immediately intimidated. usually he's good with meeting new people, but this guy seems lowkey scary. they way he carries himself seems so confident and the smaller male feels a little out of place. that is until the tall stranger opens his mouth.
"sannie!", he yells and pulls the other in for a hug. san hugs him back, in a very bro way, patting his back twice and then letting go.

he watches the two of them interact and decides the stranger radiates big puppy energy. he has short pink hair and is built like a freaking model. it makes wooyoung feel a little insecure inside but he tries to ignore the feeling, knowing that if san is friends with him, he must be a kind person.

"yo, mingi! i haven't seen you in forever!", san sounds very excited to see the other man - mingi - and then turns over to wooyoung.

"wooyoung, this is my friend mingi! mingi, this is the person who saved my ass, literally."

"hi, i'm wooyoung", he introduces himself to the tall man and smiles brightly at him. "i'd love to say san told me a lot about you, but he actually didn't, haha", wooyoung jokes around.

mingi looks at san, his entire face looking offended. "how the fuck can you call yourself my friend and not talk about me all the time?", he decides to join wooyoung's joking and san groans. "oh god, what did i do to myself?"

"something amazing", mingi promises and then adds "come on, guys let's go inside, the others are already waiting for you." before anyone can say anything else he has already disappeared into the apartment again.

when they enter wooyoung notices the apartment is surprisingly big. the guy this belongs to must be well off, or his parents are. the living room they enter is easily able to hold the amount of people inside. he counts 15 people in total and is surprised how well they all fit.

suddenly, san grabs his arm and smiles at him "let's go meet the others!", he yells over the music, sounding very excited as he pulls wooyoung over to the group of 4 sitting on the floor and screaming something at each other. san flops down on the floor, pulling the smaller male with him, making him sit down next to him.

"hey guys!!", san beams at his friends, not noticing how suddenly the atmosphere of the entire group shifts. from the corner of his eye, wooyoung sees two of the guys pulling apart a little, not sitting as close to each other as they did before. he frowns a little at that but doesn't comment on it.

san is greeted with some variations of his name being yelled, being welcomed into the group as if it's his family, but something seems off to wooyoung, he can't place his finger on it though.

"everyone, meet wooyoung. he literally saved me from being homeless", san introduces him again and wooyoung smiles and waves at the others. someone slaps the back of san's head. "yeah and whose fault is that?", he asks. san grimaces at the guys words. "sorry hwa, but you gotta admit my parties were always the best!"

wooyoung sees the hwa guy shake his head and smile anyways. "sorry you got san as a roommate, he's a troublemaker", he says and then adds, "i'm seonghwa and those are yunho, jongho and hongjoong." he points at the other people in the group and wooyoung notices seonghwa and hongjoong are the ones who separated themselves from each other when san joined the group.

the black haired male just shakes his head and runs his fingers through his hair. "he isn't even that bad, the only times when he's being annoying is when he's gaming instead of studying", he jokingly says and san playfully shoves him. "that's a lie, i never play video games instead of studying."

"yeah, because you never study!", the yunho guy chimes in and wooyoung has to actually laugh. so far the evening seems to be going great. san groans and then moves to get up again.

"i'm gonna get myself a drink, do you want something, too?", he asks and wooyoung thinks for a moment, unsure if he should really already embarrass himself in front of a bunch of people he just met. but then he nods and san asks him what he wants. "i'll take the same as you, i'm not picky", he answers and san gives him a look that screams 'you just made a big mistake'. wooyoung skillfully ignores it and then turns his attention back to the group.

he sees hongjoong reaching for seonghwa's hand, grabbing it and running his thumb over the other's knuckles. that's it, he thinks and decides to ask about it.

"are you two together?", he asks, pointing at their joined hand. seonghwa looks a little taken aback and hongjoong has this pleading look in his eyes. "don't tell san, okay?" he says, barely louder than the music. "he doesn't know?" wooyoung whisper yells back at them and they both shake their heads.

at this wooyoung perks up, having mixed feelings about the entire situation all of a sudden. "why not?", he decides to ask and jongho, who hasn't spoken the entire time chimes in.

"san is a little... i don't know how to put it without sounding like an asshole, but then again, he's being an asshole to be honest."

wooyoung must look a little lost at jongho's words, because yunho suddenly offers an explanation. "san comes from a conservative family, his views on being gay are a little old-fashioned." he shakes his head and then then adds, "basically san is pretty homophobic. i'm surprised he hasn't let it out on you yet."

wooyoung sputters at his words. "how do you know if i'm gay?" he asks and yunho laughs. "honey, have you looked at yourself lately?" and okay, that's fair. wooyoung has been out of the closet ever since his junior year in highschool and he's very glad about it.

"maybe he hasn't noticed it? or maybe he doesn't want to notice it," he offers with a shrug and everyone shrugs back at him. "he probably doesn't want it to be true", seonghwa says and smiles a little.

"i have a question, though?", wooyoung sounds a little unsure of himself, not knowing if it's his place to ask a question like that already. "how the fuck do you deal with someone who's homophobic while you're not straight yourself?"

hongjoong shrugs again and then says "i think we got used to it." sadly that's everything he gets out of the other before san returns with two drinks in his hands.

"here you go, i hope you like it", he says with a devious smirk and wooyoung has to laugh at that. he tries to ignore the weird feeling in his stomach and takes the drink from san's hand. "thank you, sannie. i'm sure i will." he smirks at san as well and then has to think about his friends words again.

interesting, he thinks to himself, i wonder if i can get you to show me your true colors, choi san.
