Autumn nights where always my favourite, it was chilly enough to wear a warm sweating but not so cold you can still feel your hands.
A puff of smoke blew out of my lungs as I breathe out, it always looked like you breathe in more when you smoke in the cold but watching it dance into the sky always brought me peace of another night wide awake.
My phone lit up as I was to relax, stupid notificans ruining my mood, oh wait it's a text from
"James?" I said outloud to no one, the text read
J:are you awake?
Me:always why?
After a few seconds my phone turned off I assumed he was going to text back but after 5 minutes nothing, I had already moved on to my next cigarette when I head a knock at my door.
The balcony I was sitting on was opposite the front door through the living room. I place my smoke down as I opened the door to see James standing there with a small bag of what seemed like food.
"Want something to eat?"
"Yeah sure' I let James through as he went over to the kitchen on his right and start taking food out of the bag, mainly snacks.
"It's 11 at night why are you still awake" I spoke as I went back onto the balcony to finish my me time. James followed me outside and took one of the chairs next to mine before pulling out a box of cigarettes before putting in his mouth and lighting it.
"I could ask you the same"
I pulled my legs into myself pulling my oversized hoodie over them.
"I don't know honestly, I just feel more relaxed at night or maybe I have insomnia we will never know"
James chuckled slightly
"Gonna answer my question now Jimbo" I teased
"I just couldn't stop thinking"
"Dam I know that feeling, like your mind just won't shut up"
We sat in silence finishing our cigarettes before making our way inside for something to eat. We didn't really talk much it felt as if our presence was enough for eachother. Before we knew it we were on the sofa under a blanket falling asleep in each others arms.
