Chapter 3: Obsessed with Cherries

That night, she returned to her apartment. She threw herself on the bed and sighed in between the pillows. "I still don't know what the hell is even going on..." Ariana said.

She heard loud rattling sounds that made her shot up. "What was that?" Ariana asked grabbing a broom as her weapon. She slowly was trying to find where the sound was coming. "Do it again, I dare you." Ariana said.

The rattling sound occurred again which turned louder. "Ok... It was towards the wall but now the ceiling..?" Ariana asked herself. It made a loud crashing noise. "Ok! I don't want to deal with this paranormal activity!" Ariana exclaimed. The sound sounded like scratching. "Dui!" Ariana unintentionally called out.

There was a knock on her balcony door. She readied her broom in case of an attack.

The door opened and the curtain was covering the person. "Intruder!" Ariana exclaimed charging at the burglar and started to hit them with the broom. "Ow! Ow! Ariana! It's me! Dui!" Dui said. "Dui?" Ariana asked and pulled the curtain aside.

She saw him on the balcony rubbing his head. "Sorry about that..." Ariana said. "It's fine..." Dui said. "What are you doing here anyways?" Ariana asked. "The wishing gods heard your cry for help. What's wrong?" Dui asked. "I keep hearing weird noises." Ariana said. "Weird noises?" Dui asked. "Yeah. It just started and I don't know where it's coming from." Ariana said.

She heard a loud bam and she jumped and had the broom ready. "There it is! I think it came from the roof!" Ariana exclaimed. "Wait there. I'll go check it out." Dui said and headed towards the bathroom. "Please don't be a ghost... PLEASE don't be a ghost..." Ariama mumbled. "Ariana, come here!" Dui said.

She rushed out to the balcony, and saw some fur on the ground. "Do you have a pet?" Dui asked. "No..." Ariana said. "Hm... It must be a stray hanging around." Dui said. "It better be..."Ariana said and heard the noise again.

She jumped at the sound which made Dui laugh. "You seem unsteady. Since that's the case, why don't I move in with you for a while?" Dui asked. "...WHAT?!" Ariana exclaimed. "I'll be right back. Please wait here." Dui said and flew out towards the sky. She breathe in a lot of air. "WHAT IS GOING ON???!!!"

Shortly after, Dui came back to her apartment with some stuff. "I'm back." Dui said. "Hey..." Ariana said. "Are you nervous or something?" Dui asked. "No... What makes you think... I'm nervous?" Ariana asked with a sweat drop running down her face. "Haha. You like stars, right?" Dui asked. "I don't hate them." Ariana said. "I see. In that case, I'll show you something you'll enjoy. Come on." Dui said leading her out to the balcony.

She looked up at the sky. "There's not a lot of stars out tonight..." Ariana said. "That's ok. Can I borrow your hand for a second?" Dui asked. "Ok..." Ariana said. He took her hand and snapped his fingers.

The sky that barely had stars is now filled with an infinite amount of them. "Whoa..." Ariana said in awe. "I made it so you can see the stars. Also, I'll find out what's making that noise. You don't have to worry about a thing, alright?" Dui asked. "Alright." Ariana said.

As she was turning back to look at the stars again, she saw a lot of shooting stars. "Whoa! There's a lot of shooting stars!" Ariana exclaimed. "You look like you're enjoying yourself." Dui said. "Ok. Time to make a wish." Ariana said and closed her eyes. "I wish you would tell me your wish instead of wishing on a star." Dui said. "Say what..?" Ariana asked. "Kidding! The Gemini constellation... It disappears from view for a while during this time of year." Dui said. "Really? You know... My sign is Gemini and you're Gemini..." Ariana said. "Haha I know that. Also... Did you realize?" Dui asked. "Realize what?" Ariana asked. "We've been holding hands this entire time!" Dui said.

She looked down and he was right. "Did you realize we were doing this..?" Ariana asked. "Yes. You're just so cute." Dui said. "He called me cute again!" Ariana thought blushing. "Ariana, you're so red that you're practically glowing. Does it bother you at all?" Dui asked. "No... Not at all." Ariana said. She saw him looking out the balcony. "Everything alright?"

"I was just thinking... I haven't smiled this much since coming down to Earth- No that's not true... I haven't smiled in the heavens either... At least not in a while..." Dui said. She cocked her side to the side. "I've been talking too much, haven't I? Let's go back inside." Dui said. "Sure thing." Ariana responded.

The next day, Ariana was walking home from class. She unlocked the front door and set her stuff down. "I'm home." Ariana said taking off her shoes. "Welcome home, Ariana." Dui said. "Oh..!" Ariana exclaimed. "I forgot that he was here!" Ariana thought. "Did you have a good day?" Dui asked. "Y-Yeah. So... Anything on the weird noises?" Ariana asked. "Today was fine. Listen." The room was silent. "You see?"

"I do see." Ariana said. "I'll be with you tonight again so you can just relax." Dui said. "Thanks." Ariana said. "It makes me happy to hear that. It makes me want to take care of you even more." Dui said. "Take care of me..?" Ariana mumbled. "When you were in class earlier today, I went to the grocery store with Ichthys." Dui said. "Um... Did you get anything?" Ariana asked. "Of course I did. See?" Dui asked showing her to the table with bags full of groceries.

"Holy moly... That's a lot of cherries..." Ariana thought. "Oh! Uh... Are you hungry?" Ariana asked. "I'm sorry. The truth is... We don't get hungry." Dui said. "Really?" Ariana asked. "We don't have to eat or sleep and we only bathe for entertainment." Dui said. "Then... Why did you get all of this?" Ariana asked. "Ichthys got a bit carried away and bought a lot." Dui said. "Oh... Well thank you for all this food." Ariana said and began to put away the food in the fridge and pantry. "Actually... Since being on Earth, my energy levels have been decreasing lately. I can recover by eating a little bit of food. The things I got are my favorites. I'll love for you to make me that sometime." Dui said. "Sure thing. What do you want me to make?" Ariana asked. "This." Dui said picking up a cherry. She tilted her head to the side.

He ate a cherry in one bite. "This is delicious! But this isn't what I wanted you to make. I want you to use these to make a cherry pie. Can you make those?" Dui asked. "I can but-" Ariana said. "If it's too hard then I can make one with my powers." Dui said. "No! No! I'll make it. I used to bake a lot of cookies in high school." Ariana said. "Cook...Ies?" Dui asked. "Yeah, cookies. Anyway... I'll make the pie so wait a few minutes." Ariana said.

An hour later, she took the pie out of the oven. "It's finished." Ariana said setting it on the table. "Amazing! Did you really make this yourself?" Dui asked. "Yes, who else was in this room to make it?" Ariana asked. "Good point. It smells so good!" Dui said getting the whole pie and started to eat it. "This is the best thing ever! I'm not lying, it's absolutely amazing!"

"Thanks. There's some pie on your mouth." Ariana said pointing to her own mouth. "Where?" Dui asked. "I'll get it." Ariana said and wiped the pie off of Dui's mouth with a napkin. "...Thanks." Dui said blushing. "No problem." Ariana said. "The way you wiped my mouth... It's like we were a couple." Dui said. "Uh..." Ariana stuttered. "Can I eat the leftover cherries?" Dui asked. "Be my guest." Ariana said. "Cherries look like little twins. One sweet and one slightly sour. They're delicious and cute, aren't they? Hey! Look at this!" Dui said and stuck his tongue to show her a cherry stem tied into a heart shaped knot. "Look! I made another one! Are you good at this?"

"No..." Ariana said. "Why are you all red?" Dui asked. "No reason..." Ariana said. "He's a pro at that meaning... He's a good kisser... Why am I thinking this? No! Bad Ariana! Bad!" Ariana thought.

She heard a familiar sound on the balcony. "Stay behind me." Dui said standing protective in front of her and opened the curtains. "Who's there?!"

A cat was sitting there looking up at him and meowed. "Oh... A kitten. Come here. Where did you come from?" Dui asked kneeling down and the cat rubbed against his hand purring.

She walked and stopped behind her. "How cute! Good kitty! Good kitty!" Dui said. "Soft kitty~ Warm kitty~ Little ball of fur~ Happy kitty~ Sleepy kitty~ Purr~ Purr~ Purr~ ...What am I doing?" Ariana thought. "I guess the noises came from this little kitten." Dui said. "We should look for its owner." Ariana said. "I was just thinking that." Dui said touching her and snapped his fingers and had a pet carrier appear. "Just let finish eating the cherries." Dui said putting the kitten in the pet carrier. She smiled while shaking her head.
