Michael pulls into his driveway, hopping out of their car as they pop their trunk. He opens his trunk, grabbing out a cooler and carrying it inside. Inside was a bunch of Crystal Pepsi, normally he would be happy, they loved retro things, and weirdly old cancelled drinks from the 90's in particular. But all he felt as they closed their trunk and locked their car was empty, maybe a slight hint of anger as well, but they would never admit that he was angry to themself.

I can't believe he stood me up like that... I waited an hour for him to come back, and nothing.Jeremy had taken a ride with Brooke, had he told Michael this they wouldn't have been upset, but it wasn't right for them to be upset, was it?
In their mind, Jeremy just took off, abandoning his best friend, and Michael didn't even know why. It was petty to be upset over such a little thing such as this, but Michael was dependent on they're friendship. Jeremy was the only friend Michael had ever had, and Michael got afraid of even the smallest cracks in their friendship.
No matter, he thought to himself attempting to cheer themselves up.

I'm probably overreacting. Jeremy will just text saying his dad picked him up or something later. And so they waited, loading his cooler of well over expired soda into his mini-fridge and popping in the disc for Apocalypse of the Damned. Michael and Jeremy promised not to progress in the game without eachother, but this was Michaels own petty was of getting back at their friend for leaving him at the mall.
7 hours passed, Michael going through their day as that slight anger boiled inside him over the course of the day. By the time he was ready to sleep, nothing had come through their phone.
As they drifted to sleep, they hoped they hadn't done anything to detur Jeremy.
They silently blamed themself for what happened, but their thoughts couldn't be farther from the truth.
