Ishita POV

I'm stepping out of the hospital, and as I'm approaching the parking area, I can't help but notice a tall, broad-shouldered figure leaning against his sleek black Cadillac SUV. My heart is skipping a beat when I realize it's Hukum. He has his signature glasses perched on his face, which somehow makes his rugged features look even more striking. The bright sun rays are casting a warm glow on his muscular body, rendering him all the more irresistibly hot.

"Oh, shoot. Am I just thinking of him as... hot?" I'm scolding myself mentally, giving my head a gentle smack to dispel such thoughts.

I'm proceeding toward him, and I'm finding him lost in his own world. I'm raising a questioning eyebrow, pulling him out of his reverie, "Aap ab tak ruke hain?" (Have you been waiting long?)

His reply is sending a swarm of butterflies fluttering in my stomach. Of course, it feels like butterflies. Hukum, the man known as a workaholic who doesn't like waiting for anyone, is standing here waiting for me. I can't help but smirk at the thought.

But, being my sassy self, I'm deciding to decline his offer. "Iski koi zaroorat nahin hai, main meri friend ke saath chal rahi hoon." (There's no need for this; I'm going with my friend.)

However, what he's saying next is catching me completely off guard and making my heart plummet into my abdomen. He's asking me out for a coffee date.

Is he serious? I'm initially pleased that he's making an effort, but my tongue is giving him a blunt response. And then, he's dropping a bombshell, casually referring to himself as my future husband and mentioning marriage. I can't believe it.

"Shadi? Yeh banda kya hai, aise direct kon shaadi pe aata hai? Konse jamane mein ji rahe ho Bhai tum?" I'm muttering to myself in disbelief. "Ohh no, not 'Bhai,' absolutely not! Kya yaar, meri language ke chakkar mein abhi sab ulta ho jayega."

These thoughts are racing through my mind while Ekansh drove away in his car. ( Who does that, just casually bringing up marriage like that? What era is he living in Bro?)

( A/N actually yahan bhai ka mtlb vho rakhi wala bhai nhi tha, ajjkal aise hi nhi boldete 'kya yaar bhai tu bhi' aisa wala bhai tha galat na smjhe mujhe koi bhi aur hnn meine phirse vho conversation beech ki nhi likhi unneccesary lamba ho jata ,puri conversation padhne ke liye ch8 padhe. )

Chavi's words were making me snap out of my delulu as she was shaking me so hard that it felt like an earthquake of magnitude 7 was happening.

"Bhen, kidhar khoyi rehti thi tu? Itni der se awaaz laga rahi thi, sun hi nahi rahi? Aur Hukum se kya baat kar rahi thi? Kahin stitches toh galat nahi lag gaye, yeh Bhagwan!" Chavi, being herself, was ranting without taking a pause.

"Chup kar ja thodi der, car mein chal. Phir batati hu," I said as we were making our way towards her car.

As she was driving, I was narrating the entire incident that had just happened to me. When I reached the part about Hukum's last sentence, Chavi slammed on the brakes so suddenly that I nearly hit the front mirror.

"Chavvvviii, kya kar rahi hai? Virgin nahi marna mujhe!" I almost screamed at her. But she seemed unfazed by my outburst, her wide eyes fixed on me.

"Behen, tu shaadi kar legi, voh bhi itne handsome hunk, dashing insaan se," she said suddenly, and then she started sobbing while hugging me.

I was mentally asking myself, just like Joey did, "WHY, GOD, WHY? Yeh chalti phirti Star Plus ki serial hi mili thi aapko meri BFF banane?" (Why, God, why? Did I have to get a best friend who was like a walking, talking Star Plus soap opera?)
