The comp

As I was talking to poppy I saw a boy with pink hair get out of the water. He immediately caught my attention with his tattoos and his piercings . He was just my type. I saw summer look at him to. It makes sense me and summer are alot alike but I'm just a little more careless . One thing summer does not have that I do is a different career than surfing . I had a band before I left nyc . I miss them of course just as much as I miss my surfing group .
I want to be back in the water but I'm terrified and that's never ever stopped me from doing something I love.
"Poppy I think I'm going to surf in this comp not for a place on the team just to surf again ". I told her
I saw her face light up when I said that.
The judges knew who I was they had seen clips of me surfing before so when I told them I was ready to surf this comp they let me but on the other hand they wouldn't let summer they told her she wasn't good enough. Summer is good I mean she has been practicing for a while but it wasn't enough time . Kids like me have been practicing since they were little not for just a year . We gave our life and time into surfing it's something kids like me care about and I don't care about a lot of things. 
I didn't have my board with me I haven't even seen my board in almost a year . Thank god bohdi had an extra. 
When I got into the water I felt my little self come back to me. I had closed a part of me off the caring side the one who was there for everyone who cared about her grades and the way she looked. I think poppy realized the feelings I was having because she grabbed my hand once we were out there. I closed my eyes and began to sway my hands in the water. 

I didn't even realize summer was about to jump Into the water until I felt the splash come onto my warm skin .

" summer what the actual fuck " I turned to her and said .
She just laughed like it didn't matter. Me and poppy looked at each other not knowing what to do.
It was about to be my turn for the waves and as I was paddling out summer took off paddling and completely stole my waves.

" I'm actually going to fuckin kill her " I turned to poppy and said .

Wren turned to me and asked if that was my sister.
"Nope that was my best friend " .
