Ya know how when people become famous and they forget about all the friends they had before? They go out and find new friends, rich friends, famous friends. Then their old friends say they "knew them back when" but its all been forgotten. Well let me tell you, not all stories end that way. This one ends quite differently. This is the story about how my best friend became famous.

"I love it out here. It's so calm and peaceful," Harry said quietly, enjoying the warm, summer day. We were laying out under the shade of a giant oak tree in his backyard. This was something we did a lot in Summer. Something about the clear blue sky, rustling squirrels, and singing birds was relaxing and it just got our minds off of our typical, drama-filled, teenage lives. Harry and I have been best friends ever since the day his family moved in next door. My family moved to the UK before I was born, but both my parents were American and so am I. Harry still makes fun of me because of my accent.
"It kinda ruins the quiet when you talk ya know?" I teasingly commented. He smiled and chuckled a little under his breath.
"Taylor?" he said, his tone rather cautious and sneaky.
"Yeah?" I answered curiously, turning on my side in the bright green grass to look at him.
"What are you doing this Wednesday?"
I thought about my schedule for the next day, "I think i'm free, why?"
"Good. We're going to ride up to ____ that day. My Mum's driving." His mom, Anne, was so nice! She treats me like a part of the family.
"Cool," I said, but then a thought occurred to me. "Wait, why are we going there?" It was way out of the way and there was nothing special there, that I knew of. He turned on is side and looked at me with a knowing smile.
"I'm going to audition for the X Factor."
"OH-MY-GOSH!! No way?!?!?! Are you serious?? Don't lie to me Styles!" I squealed. So much for the peace and quiet, but who cares?! I'd been trying to get him to audition for the X Factor ever since he turned fifteen! He was the lead singer in a band named White Eskimo, and he had skills!
"Yeah, I'm serious! When was the last time I lied to you Taylor?!" He was laughing at my spasticness. I thought about his question for a minute.
"Hmph." I sighed defeated. "Whatever. What song are you singing?!"
"I was thinking about Isn't She Lovely or Torn? Which one do you think?"
I deliberated for a moment, replaying him singing those songs in my head. "Isn't She Lovely. I like that one." I smiled, happy with my decision.
"Me too. Ok, I'll sing that one." He smiled, equally happy with my decision.
"Dinner's ready!" Anne called from the house. I walked with Harry up to the door.
"Hi, Taylor! Would you like to stay for dinner?"
"I'd love to, thanks!" I could never deny her. She was so caring, like a second mother to me.
I followed Anne to the kitchen to help her bring the food to the table, while Harry plopped himself down in a chair, waiting to be served. Typical teenage boy.
"You could help us ya know, Harry," I told him when Anne and I finally settled down in our chairs.
"Yeah, I know," he answered, matter of factually, shoving food into his mouth. You couldn't complain though, he was usually very helpful around the house. I imagine he's just really nervous about tomorrow.
"Where's Charlie?" I asked Anne. Charlie was Harry's step-dad. Charlie has been married to Anne ever since I'd met them, but I have also met Harry's biological father.
"He had to stay at work late," she answered. I thought I heard a hint of sadness in her voice. Charlie had been working late a lot recently.
"It's okay, Mum. I'm sure things will be back to normal soon," Harry comforted her, apparently noticing the same sadness I was. He was such a romantic, it was a wonder he didn't have a girlfriend. He had a couple in the past, but they always met someone new or got bored of Harry. He had a really nice girlfriend not too long ago, but he broke up with her because he wanted to take his music more seriously.
"I hope so..." Harry's mother muttered, almost inaudible for me to hear. Harry sent me a pleading look to change the subject.
"So, what time are we leaving in the morning?" I asked, hoping to distract Anne.
"About five in the morning, if we want to get there early. Is that ok with you Peyton?"
"Of course!" I had to admit it was a little early, but I didn't want to complain.
"I can't believe my baby is going to audition for the X Factor!!" she gushed. "Oh! I bought T-Shirts from that cart in the mall and everything, Taylor!"
"Muuummm!" Harry whined. He clearly would have been embarrassed if it wasn't just me here.
"Oh, Harry! Stop that! Your mom is just really proud of you!" I scolded feeling like his mother myself.
"I'm sorry, Harry! I can return the shirts if you want..." Anne said acting hurt, but I knew her plan.
"No! No! It's fine, Mum! You spent a lot of money on those shirts! It's fine, I was just overreacting before!" He babbled on. Harry hated upsetting his mom, or anybody actually.
We finished eating dinner and I helped them clean up. It was getting dark so I decided to head home.
"Thanks for the dinner, Anne! It was delicious Bye, Harry! Just text me and I will meet you outside in the morning," I said making my way to the front door, with Harry following behind me.
"Thanks! See you tomorrow, Sweetie!" Anne called from the kitchen.
"Ok, I will. See ya!" Harry called, waving from the stairs by the front door.
