"So how was last night?" Katie found it amusing that Tom had heard our whole conversation, which I did not find amusing at all. Who would find it amusing of your brother thought you liked a boy that you clearly didn't like.
"Oh, yeah it was great!" I said sarcastically. We were heading to peaches Katie's favourite clothes shop. I hated it there, she would try on a million outfits and ask for my opinion for them all while I sat there and did nothing. The reason I wanted to come shopping was cause I needed some new books. Katie was talking about the seasons new colours and style she wanted to be wearing, as usual I wasn't listening.
So while she was fully into her conversation I sneaked of into the book shop. I loved it there. I knew Katie would get mad but she'd get over it, eventually. I loved to read and to put your head in a whole different world. I picked up the rest of the series to the maze runner because I loved it. Just when I was walking to the counter I saw a familiar head. But then it disappeared, I was really going crazy. But then behind me I heard the heads voice.
"Hey." It was Brent what was he doing in here anyway. "Um, hi." I said nervously wondering if he was even talking to me, I doubted it.
"That's a good series?" He saw my books. I looked at him and then shook myself out of my daze realising he was waiting for me to answer.
"Oh, yes it is." He nodded smiling at me.
"What?" I aksed after a while of him and me just looking at eachother.
He shook himself out of his daze. "Oh, um nothing." We stood there awkwardly for another whole minute.
"Well I'd better go, Katie's probably realised I'm gone by now." I turned to walk away and heard him say goodbye behind me. That was so weird, now I'm even more confused. Yay just what I needed. I saw Katie walking around frantically looking for me, I held in a laugh she looked hilarious.
"There you are!" She called as running over to me her arms flying.
"Here I am." I smiled at her, she wouldn't be angry if I told her about Brent. "Guess what." I quizzed her. "
You found your true love!" She jumped happily. I shook my head, why did everything in my life have to come back to that one point.
"Well you know with the good looks you have you should at least consider it, you could have a really smexy guy!" I knew she meant it but I still laughed. Smexy? Really Katie?
"Maybe later." I said realising she forgot my quiz. "Guess what!" I repeated. She looked at me curiously, I knew she'd never guess, she was horrible at guessing games.
"I give up." She sagged her shoulders and pouting reminding me of a three year old who didn't get his way.
"Brent came and said," I didn't even finish my sentence before she interrupted.
"Oh he asked you out!" She said excitedly and I shook my head in despair. It wasn't as if I was upset that he hadn't it's just that it was hi and bye. "He said hi." I said smiling, it wasn't much but it would get her going. "
That's it?" She eyed me curiously. And when I thought to answer a no, I thought actually yes it was that was it. He just said hi and bye, nothing important nothing big. Hi, bye. I was shocked to find myself sad at that. Cause I had never liked a guy and I wasn't going to start now or ever probably. And Brent like most guys in this whole universe were way out of my league.
Eventually after I'd calmed Katie down even though it was just a hi and bye apparently it was the start of something big. As we walked into peaches I sat down in front of the change rooms, I felt like I spent my whole life time here sometimes. "Hurry up Katie, we don't have all day!" I called into her change room.
"Um actually we do!" She called back, and sadly she was right. Just great I thought. I would have defiantly had like the movies better even if it was Dora or the wiggles, I could sense that this would be a long day.
