                           Julian

"Congratulations, Julian. You are going to get engaged soon, son," my dad stated with a small smile on his face.

"Thanks, Dad," I forced a smile and looked at the dishes my mom made for me today.

My parents are happy today. Mom looks happier than Dad. I guess she really wants me to move on. I know I should feel happy, but I don't feel anything. I should really forget everything. Even Madeline now loves someone else.

Why would I be stuck in the past? She left me. She should be punished, but why does it still feel like she had some reasons for everything? She stared at me with something I don't understand.

Some part of me only wants her, but some part of me is angry. Everything happened in the blink of an eye. Now everything is clear – she did not have any reasons. She chose to leave me, and now she is in love with that CEO, Jack. I chuckled internally, feeling sad thinking about it.

"Julian, take it," she served me some beef and gave me her happiest smile.

"Thanks, Mom. I will do it myself," I told her so that she will not feel tired.

She laughed at me and said, "No way! Today, I am going to serve every dish. I am so happy you are going to get engaged with Lucy. She is a good girl. Forget about Madeline. She is definitely up to something."

She knows Madeline is back. She told me to stay away from her. She doesn't want to face her because she thinks she is a gold digger who left me for some man. She also told me she is definitely back for money. I don't think so. She had such a caring, rich boyfriend.

Thinking about Jack makes me want to choke him to death. She came back because she wants to accuse me that I had cheated on her, and she can have a relationship with Jack. Sometimes, I think she left me for him, but he was never in our life. When she left me, she definitely had met him in another country. She wants to punish me by accusing me.

Now, I will show her that I have already moved on and am going to get engaged soon. I am going to show her what she is doing.

I should move on now. Yes, I will. I am going to show her what type of girl she is. A traitor. I am going to make her life miserable, and she would not be able to do anything.

"Julian, I want to have some wine with you. Come after you are done," my dad got up from the chair and went out, leaving me confused with his behavior. What is with him? It feels like he is not happy at all.

"Julian, when will you bring Lucy with you? I thought you were going to come together," my mom stated to me while eating her beef.

"Lucy had some work, that is why I did not bring her with me," I lied to her. Actually, I don't want to bring her with me. She is annoying sometimes.

When I told her we are going to get engaged, she did not even question me why so sudden nor told me to propose to her properly. She started to jump like a mad dog and showed her excitement.

Seeing her excitement I also added that i don't love her nor i am going to love her in future. She stared at me with a smile that looked fake on her and said that it is fine for her.

If you are wondering how I proposed to her for engagement, let me explain. I did not propose to her; instead, I told her directly. I called her into my office and had a straightforward conversation with her.

I suspect there might be something between her and Madeline. It seems like she no longer likes her best friend.

I got up from the chair and said to my mom, "I finished my lunch. I am going to have some wine with Dad."

"Okay, Julian. Don't forget my gift for Lucy," she yelled at me while I was on the stairs.

I sighed. Life is so complicated. I did announce the engagement, but do I really want to get engaged?
