(Karl's perspective)

I saw. They think I didn't see them, but I saw.

Let me run you back a little;

I pulled into my driveway after an almost 30-minute drive to get pizza. Literally name a more dedicated friend than me, I'll wait... you can't, because I'm the best. I hop out of the car and walk over to the driver's side to get the pizza and wings. I hoist the food up in my arms and make my way towards the front door. I manage to bend down and twist the doorknob, and I open the door without making any sound.

Now keep in mind at this point I'm expecting light chatter from Alex and Eden, or maybe a movie going on, or maybe even one of them sleeping while the other silently admires the other, because that sounds like some corny ass shit they'd do. But no. Unfortunately, that's not what I walk into.

As I quietly swing the door open, I see them facing each other on the couch, faces inches apart. Alex started to lean in towards her and I immediately knew I walked in at the worst possible moment so there was no going now. I quickly come in and slam the door.

"Hey, kids." I sing, acting like I didn't just witness something one might call a miracle.

My hands were overflowing as I tried to kick the door close, "a little help would be much appreciated."

Alex quickly got up to help take things out of my hands. Both of their faces were beat red, and the silence was hurting my ears and my spirit honestly.

Alex and I sat the food down in the kitchen, sorting out whose food was who's. After we sorted everything out, Eden still hadn't gotten up. I turned around to look at her and she was staring into space with a very serious look on her face.

I know that face very well. It's her overthinking face. And the mildly (maybe not) devastated expression on her face says that she's overthinking her entire life. So basically she's just thinking about her and Alex.

"Eden?" I said her name once but she still didn't answer.

"Earth to Eden," I said, waving her over, "come over here dude, I've got your wings."

She quickly sauntered over, took the wings from my hand, and successfully avoided all eye contact with Alex.

I scrunched my eyebrows together, trying to think of how to defuse the situation, because I am not going to endure all of this awkwardness, I might just walk out of my own home.

"Why are you guys acting so weird, did you change your mind about the Pizza Hut? Bro." I said, pretending like I was utterly devastated, even though the thought of leaving and driving in circles for awhile sounds aggressively appealing to me right now.

"No, we're good. Just tired," Alex replied and looked over at Eden for a quick second before turning away.
