"What do you want?" I said.
"I simply want to bargain." Scion said grinning at me. "You want your heart back and I want that ghost friend of yours."
"Not happening. You're not going to take Emily."
"But doesn't she bother you. Doesn't she always interrupt you and Alice when you two are having your moments. Don't you just want to be left alone."
"As annoying as she is, she's our friend. Now scram before I knock your block off."
"I would watch yourself, Cassian. Your girlfriend gave that tone and how did that end you?"
I jumped out of bed and leaped on Scion, punching him in the face. "Do not try to twist my feelings against Alice."
"I felt that!" Scion said as he got up holding his jaw.
"Sucks doesn't it?" I said as I began to walk towards him.
"You will regret doing that." He sneered as he shot to his fit and tackled me to the floor.
"Agh."
"What have you proved today?" He said as he held me down. "That you have integrity or that you are just stupid?"
"Get off of him!" Emily shout as she kicked him in the face. This gave me an opening to kick him off of me.
"Thanks." I said as I got back up. "How did you kick like that?"
"Used to do soccer before I got hanged."
"They have soccer in the Upper Peninsula?"
"Isn't there a ghost to deal with?"
"Yes, good point. You need to get out of here."
"Why?"
"Because he's after you. Now go." I said.
"Hey!" She said as I shoved her through the door.

WHAM

I went sliding across the room from Scion's punch. I tried to get up, but the wind was knocked out of me.

"Why do you meed her so bad?" I croaked.
"Power." Scion said. "That ghost right there is more capable than you think. If I could turn her joy to fear, I could be almost human again."
"Almost?" I said from my hands and knees, gripping my side.
"I can never live again, but I can at least then interact with the living. They would fear me."
"I really feel the fear." I said as I stood back on my feet.
"Be cocky now, but just wait until I make you burn."
"Like how you did at the orphanage."
"Miranda should've sold me the property. I offered her more money than she could imagine, but she thought of all those children. I was going to burn the house down, so she would have to sell, but I got caught in the flames and the house still stood. But at least I can make your life miserable."
"You have issues."
"See you soon." He said as he punched me in the chest. I passed through the wall and went crashing into the end board of Alice's bed in the next room.

"Cass? What's going on?" Alice asked sleepily.
"It's okay." I said as went over to crouch by her bedside. "I just going need some time to think."
"You're not going to do anything stupid are you?"
"Not without you." I said as I leaned over and kissed her in the forehead.
"Sounds like a..." she fell back asleep, laying her head back on the pillow.

I walked out of the room to find a note at my feet. It read: Get ready to burn.
I crumpled the note and resolved that Scion will be the one to burn. He has messed around enough with my friends and it's time for my revenge.
