"Congratulations bhai" Virat heard weak voice of his little brother as he entered his room. Shubman had shifted with Virat already on Virat's request as he was back with the team in Chennai.

"Shubhi I clearly instructed you to rest not watch the match, u must have strained your back. Your weakness is still not gone" said Virat taking iPad from him and making him lay down properly.

"Bhai but how could I miss your and KL bhai's batting. Aap bhi yahi karte" Shubman said being annoyed.

Virat shook his head, "why do u have to learn this extreme things from me? I am sure kuch ache karm bhi kiye honge Maine yeh life mai, wo sikh lo", he said.

"I can bet there is nothing like that" Rohit said entering the room.

As Rohit came in the room, Virat went to freshen up. Meanwhile Rohit sat beside Shubman and he ordered dinner for Virat and Shubman as he was gonna have it with Ritsy, she was gonna leave with early morning flight.

"How do u feel Shub?" Rohit asked caressing his hair.

"Better, I think I can play next one" Shubman said trying to sound strong but his voice gave it away instantly.

"Why don't we let Medical Team decide that?" said Rohit patting his hand.

Rohit sat for sometime till Virat arrived and then left from there.

"Bhai" called Shubman as Virat was arranging his dinner.

"Haan? Kahi pain ho raha hai?" Virat asked in concern.

"Mujhe soup nahi peena hai" Shubman whined.

"Shubhi u have to recover toh u got to have it"

"But bhai koi aur soup de dete jaise ki tomato, broccoli soup is yuck" Shubman complained again.

"Haan ji" Virat said and sat infront of him taking the soup bowl in his hands.

"Bhaii, nahi chahiye yeh wala" he whined again seeing Virat not even trying to give him another soup.

"You know what ishan did in the match today while fielding" Virat started and Shubman's attention was immediately diverted from soup and focused on Virat's story.

"Phir Rohit bhai ne kya bola" Shubman asked and Virat said, "kuch nahi, bas yahi ki Shubhi u have finished ur soup"

"U tricked me" Shubman said and Virat just chuckled at his annoyed face.

"Abhi I am gonna give you tablets, will you have it with story or without story? I am sure it will be fun to narrate Ishan or even Vamu that her Shub chachu needs stories like a child to eat his food and medicines" teased Virat and Shubman instantly had the tablets.

"You are being mean to me" Shubman said as Virat made him lay down and covered him with comforter.

Virat just sat beside and caressed his hair to which Shubman leaned into that and didn't even realise when he dozed off.

Next morning Virat just came back in the room after shooting interview with KL, he saw Shubman pale than ever.

"Shub" Virat called and rushed to him.

"Virat.. Bhai.." whispered Shubman feeling so much pain and weakness in his body.

"Yes I am here, let me call the doctor" Virat said getting up from his side to which Shubman panicked, "don't.. leave.. me"

"Bacha, ek min bas" Virat said holding his hand. He called the doctor and soon medical team arrived.

Virat sat by his side holding his hand assuring him he was not alone. They took his blood sample again to which Shubman groaned in pain, Virat just rubbed his knuckles to soothe the pain somehow.

"Hey, hey Kiddo is it paining a lot? Why are u crying?" Asked Virat immediately sitting beside him on the bed wiping his tears.

"I.. want.. to play the.. World Cup" Shubman said sobbing a little due to pain and weakness and not able to play the matches.

Virat sighed knowing how it will be always in back of his mind during this recovery and sickness.

"Shubhi I know bacha, you want to play. We all want you to play, you are the best opener alongside Ro today. But your health is the most important thing at the moment. Once you recover, you can play as much as you want kiddo. Just think if we rush you and anything worse happens, it would impact your whole career kiddo" Virat explained caressing his hair and wiping his tears.

Virat just took his head in his lap and Shubman hugged him feeling restless and weak due to everything.

"Virat?" Team Doctor arrived in the room.

"Yes?"

"We have to admit him to hospital, his platelet count is less. The treatment will be continued there" Doctor informed to which Virat nodded.

Virat felt so bad for Shubman, he was gonna be alone now as the team had to travel to Delhi.

"Shubhi bacha get up" Virat shook him after 15 mins.

"Hmm" Shubman just mumbled waking up a little.

"Shub, you have to go to hospital kiddo, your platelets count is decreased. Treatment will be continued there" said Virat softly.

"Delhi hospital right, I am travelling with you na?" Shubman asked so innocently that it was getting difficult for Virat to even answer it.

"Bacha, you are not strong to travel now. But I will be there till they take u to hospital. Okay? Then get the treatment and come to me and the team soon okay. You are strong Shubhi and I will be in constant touch with you. I promise" Virat said cupping his cheeks.

"I wanted you to be there with me but team needs you more" Shubman hugged him and mumbled in his shoulder.

"I know bacha! I am always there with you, Just focus on ur recovery okay" Virat said hugging him back.

Shubman nodded. As promised Virat was there when he got admitted in the hospital.

"Take care and recover soon!" Virat said to Shubman who gave a thumbs up to him as he was too drowsy to speak. Virat caressed his hair and left for the airport.

"Meko bhi aana tha aapke sath hospital mai" Ishan whined as soon as Virat sat on his seat in the plane.

"There was only one person allowed Ishan, we will stay in touch with him, don't worry okay"

"He will be okay, right?" Ishan asked in a low voice.

"Ofcourse and will be back to annoy you"

"He doesn't - annoy me, I mean he does - but"

"I got it, don't explain so much" Virat said patting his cheeks fondly.

After 10 mins of silence, Virat heard, "Don't you worry, he will be okay" Rohit was sitting beside him as he was lost in thoughts.

"I am hoping that" Virat said. Rohit just kept his hand on his shoulder indicating that he was here and he knew what was going on in his mind.

Virat just let a sigh when he saw Rohit there.
