When I had gotten to the bookstore, I walked in almost forgetting the bird on my shoulder may not be allowed. Edger startled me when he popped out from behind a bookshelf. I was about to say something when Edger spoke.

"Oh, hey Nova...is that a raven on your shoulder?" I glanced at the bird on my shoulder before nodding. He examined me for a second seeming to want to say something but holding his words. "you're cleaning up after it if it shits on anything" He smiled still with a glint of unspoken words.

I laugh as I walked over to a window seat in the back that has a view of a back street where I can watch people walking past. Once there I lifted my hand for Mathew before setting him down on the chair before removing my bag and pulling out my computer before sitting in the seat being careful not to sit on Mathew. As I was working, I hummed to myself softly typing away working on my story.

I was so distracted I almost didn't hear when someone else started humming the same song. Looking up I can't find where the voice is coming from. Slowly I got up carefully setting down my computer before looking around a shelf to see Edger and he was humming with a soft smile on his face. I watched him for a moment before he spotted me.

"Where did you learn that song?" I asked feeling almost small. I always hummed that song but never could remember where I first heard it or why it was so important to me.

"I learned it from an old friend who's partner always hummed it when distracted" He smiled at the image painted in his mind. "I grew attached to it after my friend went missing and his partner lost her memory" as he spoke, I felt horrified for him.

"Missing? and lost her memory? What?" I was confused as I looked at him hopping for more answers.

"No one knew what happened to my friend not even his partner and she looked for him even when others gave up. But some of his family blamed her most likely just wanting to start issues. The stress of losing the one she loves paired with the constant blame from his family made life difficult and one night one of his siblings attacked her and she lost her memory I only found out about this when my friend returned searching for her." He took a moment before continuing. "He found out about her memory loss from his sister who I'll call Dabria..." I stopped him for a moment.

"Dabria... the angel of death... Why call her that?" I asked him confused. I watched his face worried for his annoyance but only seeing a light of amusement.

"It was the first thing to come to mind now may I continue?" I nodded at his question making him smile "Dabria told Morpheus about his loves memory loss so Morpheus went searching for answers only to learn from his most spiteful sibling who bragged about pushing Star to her limit.... Star being Morpheus's partner" I nodded.

The god of dreams and nightmares? Why is edger naming them after a god and angel? Odd but not completely far-fetched for nicknames when telling personal stories.

"Morpheus's sibling purposefully pushed star until she broke to not only hurt Morpheus but to take away the thing that made him most human" I stared at him in disbelief the story drew a sense of despair and hatred from my chest.

Who in their right mind would do that to someone especially their sibling or someone who had nothing to do with their squabble. I understand hating you're sibling somedays as mine had driven me to madness once or twice, but I still loved him.

"Has he found her yet?" I questioned knowing the answer but wanting to hope for something different. I could tell by his face that there was hope in the answer but sadness still.

"He has but he is scared to push her in fear if he does it might make her pull away from him" I smiled a sad smile. In my heart I hoped his friend well and hoped to hear a good ending to his tail.

"Tell your friend I wish them well on their endeavor and tell him to keep up hope." I smiled softly as his eyes lit up warm from the smile on his face. The bell above the door rang. revealing a figure in black once again seeming in calm search for something. As his eyes locked with mine I felt a comfortable pressure. Underneath his gaze I felt my skin warm as I slowly smiled and waved. I could have almost sworn I saw him smile before Edger said something to him drawing his attention away from me.

I chewed on my cheek for a moment before deciding to go back to working on my computer and humming with a newfound feeling of reason behind it. Mathew watches me as I work him curled up and relaxed in his spot.

As I work, I mindlessly run my fingers over Mathew's feathers. Edger walks past with Dream talking about a book he wanted to get Lucienne's help fixing it. I glance up at the name. Dream isn't looking at Edger as he talks, he's staring my way. I look away but still feel him staring. I am about to look back when I get a call.

"Hey... What's up?" I speak softly as I pick up my phone. I cover my mic apologizing softly to Mathew for my phone scaring him smiling as he seems to glare before relaxing back in his spot. I laughed before glancing back at Dream to see him glaring at what looks to be my hand. I am confused until Abigal calls my name trying to get my attention again. Turning back away I talk to Abigail about making plans for later with Jade as a roommate hangout.
