"Did you learn anything new about her?" Itadori asked Kugisaki for about the hundredth time."I already told you, I'm not telling you!" Kugisaki defended.
Fushiguro shook his head, "I don't see why you can't just tell us."
The brown-haired girl groaned loudly, "Cause! It's like personal, I don't know if she wants me to repeat what she said. Besides, none of it was fun, it was, like, really sad."
"But I wanna know!" Itadori complained.
Kugisaki raised her voice, "It was just depressing! She didn't know how to put a seatbelt on, she didn't know how to read kanji, Maki said that Y/n said she'd never had candy before, she couldn't read the menu at the sushi place, and then when we were leaving, she said she was so lucky that she didn't have to go to bed hungry last night and that she was happy she wouldn't have to wake up with stomach pain from being so hungry!"
The two boys fell silent.
Itadori broke the silence, of course, "That is sad."
"Yeah." Kugisaki added, "And she said it all so nonchalantly like it was normal!"
She then sighed, "Look, she seems like a nice person so far and I do like her, but she must have a really fucked up childhood or something."
Fushiguro nodded, "That's what I gathered."
"It's like she's never been a real part of society, she said she left school in the second grade and that she raised herself? How in the hell would she manage to do that." Kugisaki slumped up against the wall in Itadori's room, sitting on his bed. Itadori sat next to her, and Fushiguro insisted on sitting on the floor.
The pink-haired boy sighed, "I don't know. Maybe we should... ask her?"
The two stared at him.
"You don't just ask someone about that," Fushiguro stated.
"Yeah, it's like, really insensitive. Especially with her case. And, I'm not judging, but what was up with that outburst yesterday at lunch?" Kugisaki asked.
Itadori groaned, "I've been meaning to ask about that! Why would she assume I was trying to make her indebted to me? I'd never do that!" He seemed to take offense to that claim.
"And she just ate a slice of bread and thought that was lunch? That's not right." Kugisaki added.
Fushiguro sat up straight, "Well, what I'm getting here is that she had a rough upbringing and we're all extremely privileged."
Kugisaki nodded, "Yeah. I don't know. But also, when we were driving into the city, I said something... not so nice, and I apologized. But she seemed really surprised and confused about why I apologized. It was weird. I kinda feel bad about it..."
"What do you mean 'surprised'?" Itadori questioned.
"Like, she literally said 'Why are you saying sorry?' And 'Don't apologize'. And I don't know why, but I can't understand why she'd say that."
Fushiguro bit his lip, "Yeah, that doesn't make any sense."
"Maybe she just thought it wasn't that big of a deal? Maybe she just didn't take offense to what you said and thought it was weird you'd say sorry for something that didn't bother her." Itadori offered.
Kugisaki huffed, "I don't know..."
A knock came at their door. Fushiguro, being closest to the door, stood and opened it. It was Maki.
"Hey, Itadori?"
The pink-haired boy sat up, "Yeah?"
"Gojo wants you," Maki informed, motioning for him to follow her as she walked down to the hall outside of the dormitories.
