You'd think I'd get used to the nightmares. That somehow I would've found a way to escape or control them. I've never been the best lucid dreamer, but I'm sure that's have been a useful talent about now. No matter what, those eyes were always there, and I was always stuck under its gaze.

It's always been said that eyes were windows to the soul. It was apparent now that the saying was only too true. I could see how evil he truly was as he towered over me, looming in the shadows of the small hut I currently resided in.

But it scared me to know that beyond those pits of fiery bubbling pools of blood, lay nothing. Not a spark, not an inkling of humanity- well kindness. Nothing about him was human.

Most importantly...how did he know where I was?! I felt oddly disturbed, as if these were more than simple nightmares now. He looked to the side, only feet away from me. Towards Aaron. And as if the fire between his eyes could not grow any hotter, as if the blood in them couldn't get any richer, it did.

I could feel putrid, hard hatred radiating off of him to my kind companion. My heart lurched in my chest, sudden guilt filling me whole. I didn't want Aaron involved with whatever this...monstrosity was.

The room got darker, the air much more heavier and thin. My heart felt as if it was being compressed yet pulled apart in a vicious battle.

"Don't hurt him." I managed to croak out, which was a first. I've never talked to him in my dreams. We only ever stared at each other, tense in the most uncomfortable way.

His gaze landed on me again, and it only seemed to settle down more into a quiet rage. But then he looked back to Aaron uncomfortably angry. Even if he was a random man I was housed with for the night, why was he so enraged?

"Why shouldn't I?" He whispers, his words bouncing off the walls as if the shadows he resided in spoke them.

"He helped me! Don't touch him!"

His glare at my command blared with the heat of a thousand suns. "You dare command me?!" The room is suddenly insanely small, shrinking incredibly, and I claw my way away from him. It was like I was crawling in thick cement, fighting my way teeth and bone away from him.

"Your body, your soul, your blood is mine."

"Stay away from me you creepy piece of shit!" I scream when it seems as if there was nowhere else to go. He only manages to get larger, taller, nearer.

"I'll do whatever I please to you, and whatever I please to him!"

"You won't! You'll die before you get the chance."

"Your mine-!"

"Aaliyah! Wake up!"

I gasped, sitting up abruptly and reaching onto a nearby pan to use as a weapon. Aaron shouts in pain, clutching his mouth in pain. I didn't realize I aggressively bumped into his mouth until I felt a throb in my skull.

"God! Talk about a harsh awakening!" He laughs it off, but I knew I hurt him bad. My skull is insanely thick, anyway.

"I'm sorry."

"Come on, no time for exchanges! Vampire patrollers are here!" He says, putting everything I owned into my bag. I rushed with him and grabbed it, immediately waking out of my stupor.

"What?! Why?! I thought you said the vampires didn't mess with you!" I exclaimed.

"Yea, they don't fuck with me, I said. But not you!"

"Shit, shit, shit, shit!" I softly exclaimed, standing up to peer out the window. They were here. Not many, but enough to be a threat. I could barely assess them through the large bushes and trees, but they took their time walking here.
