Ages back when goddess of witchcraft and wizardry mistress of night Hecate, blessed certain individuals with special abilities. 'Magic' is what they called it, they started calling themselves wizard and witches. They worshipped Hecate named her their goddess Lady Magic. Magic was invoked in many kinds of rituals and medical formulae, and to counteract evil omens. Those who couldn't understand it saw vixens as threat to mankind some thought of their own profit.
Human mind is weird thing they fear what they don't understand. What they fear, they judge as evil. And what they judge as evil, they attempt to control. And what they can not control...

They destroy. .
And that's what lead vixens to hide, and to world outside they become just a myth. They celebrated Samhain to prey lady magic to remember the vixens who were burned on salem witch trials. They celebrated yule Beltane. Everything was in harmony.
As time went by they had grudges within themselves, those who followed dark magic were frowned upon. Muggleborn vixens who were new to this world were treated like a low life. Those who supported muggleborn were considered blood traitors Those who opposed them were blood supremacist.
