Thinking back to that day, Dayn would've thought it was a normal day... his squadron would fly patrols around the Executor- and would log reports up to command. However, it was not a normal day... for weeks it had been clear the rebels were up to something. Back in the Hydulla System, a scout squadron of X-Wings had been spotted stalking the Imperial Fleet. A Squadron Tie Interceptors, under the command of Wing Commander Cienna Ree had intercepted the flight... destroying one of the X-Wings before the rest fled into Hyperspace.
That had been days prior, and now the fleet lay just beyond the Moon of Endor. Little did most of the crews on these vessels knew... they were amassing for a major operation. That would change the entire outcome of the war.
Dayn stood in the hangar of the executor, talking with Deck Department crewman.
" Did you hear? "
Dayn was puzzled by the question from the Crewman, he had not heard anything... like many- they weren't aware of what was happening on the moon of Endor.
" What didn't I hear? "
Dayn asked the crewman, continuing to inspect his TIE/LN Interceptor... the Flight Captain was uneasy. The Emperor had inspected multiple ships, as well as the orbiting incomplete Second Death Star.
" A shuttle... with an old craft ID was scanned like a day ago- apparently it's been reported missing for months. They have security units looking for the thing on the planet below. There have been rumors that it could be rebels sir, do you think so? "
Dayn would try to ease the Crewman's mind, and would say.
" It's probably nothing... and if it something, the ISB or COMPNOR would've reported it by now. Try to not worry as much about stuff like that. "
The Crewman nodded, turning to walk away... probably to finish some tasks he forgot to complete or finish.
On the bridge of the Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer Calipso, Captain Kerrell Lannen stood watching a flight of TIE fighters pass by. An Ensign came up to him, handing him a report that apparently came from Admiral Piett and Moff Jarrod themselves. It was a report that stated all ships in the Executor Task Force were to maintain a state of readiness... as what was expected always.
" Alright... inform Admiral Piett that we acknowledge the report, and we will move our ship into position along with the rest of the fleet. "
Half an hour later, the Star Destroyers and Support Vessels moved themselves into their new positions. Closer to the Death Star, Lannen wanted to question these orders- yet he knew what would happen if he did. He thought Piett for example was a poor commander, only getting his rank and position by process of elimination.
His thoughts proceeded, getting lost in them... he didn't even hear the words of a Crewman working in one of the Data pits.
" Captain! Multiple ships exiting hyperspace, Captain! "
