A/N: this is my first book I'm writing so it's probably not gonna be the best till a little bit in and I'm going through slowly to fix things to make it flow better
As I was sitting on my bed doing algebra homework I hear my mom scream from downstairs. I sprint down the stairs and see 3 men walk out of the door and then see my mother's lifeless body on the ground.
My attention transfers over to where the blood was pooling around her. I walk over to her and hesitantly lid up her t-shirt to see the nasty stab wounds in her stomach. My tears fall onto her shirt and I grow nauseous and run into my bathroom and throw up into the toilet. I start sobbing and keep thinking "what do I do"
I grab my phone and call 911 "h-hello?" I say through my sobs.
Before I know it an officer is at my door and I cover my eyes as I walk to the door not wanting to see my moms dead body
I open the door nervously and 4 police officers walk into my house more like barge in. "Hello Rosie" a middle aged woman says the nicest looking officer. "Hi" I croak through my strained voice from crying. "Sweetie how about you go up and pack some stuff into a bag ok?" She says with a pittiful smile.
I walk up the stairs to my room. Is this the last time I'll be here? I ask my self
I grab my school backpack and empty it into my bed and start packing. I add some shirts, pants, pajamas, shorts, hoodies, my mascara and skin care incase wherever I'm going doesn't have any.
"Cmon Rosie it's time to go." The nice officer says and I put on my shoes and walk out with tears in my eyes. "Goodbye house. Goodbye mom" I say to myself and I can't help but start to cry again. The lady sympathetically pats my back and then takes me into the back of the cop car.
After a little ride I'm sitting in a room at the police station while I wait for the police to find any relative to take custody over me. It feels like I've been sitting here for hours and my eyelids grow heavy. I fall asleep with my head in my knees as my knees are curled to my chest.
I'm awaken to the officer rubbing my back and I look up to see a man which looks like he's in his 20's staring at me. I hesitantly stand up like the officer tells me to. "Hello I'm your older brother Victor." He speaks and I look up at him realizing our eyes are the same. I see his lips curl up to a smile.
"I'm Rosie" I say in a soft tone and he looks at the officer and then back to me.
"Since you signed the papers you're free to take her. Goodbye Rosie" the officer says and I grab my backpack and put it on.
I follow Victor into his car and put my backpack on my lap. "So Rosie I'm sorry that they all can't be here to greet you but dad was dealing with a buissness meeting out of town and this was all very short notice. But you have 4 other brothers." He says looking at me and then back at the road. "4? No sisters?" I ask and he shakes his head no. "Are any of them younger." I ask hopefully. "No you're the baby of the family." He says with a chuckle and I nod and look out the window.
We arrive at an airport. They must live far away. "Cmon Rosie." He says and I realize I've been zoning out and he is already outside my door with my backpack. "Oh sorry." I say and get out of the car embarrassed.
We walk in and get on the plane and the pilot comes on the speaker saying our destination is to Italy. "Italy?" I ask Victor and he nods. "Ya you didn't know we lived in Italy?" He said confused. "I never knew about you guys ." I said guilty but he just taps my leg and then opens his laptop and starts working.
My eyes grow heavy and I fall asleep .
I wake up to my head against something hard but also a little squishy and open my eyes and look up to see I was sleeping against victors shoulder well more like his arm since he's so much taller.
