Hey Pearlies, my roommate is causing a lot of trouble and that's the reason I couldn't open Wattpad. Thank you so so so much for your patience.

...

"What are you saying?" I questioned the Professor with a frown.

"The same thing you heard. Let's go to Salford, Nandini." He replied clutching the handle of the bag tighter than before.

"I am Nandini Malhotra." I corrected him and his annoyance was clearly visible in his face.

"What is left here except for your title? Leave all this here and come to Salford." He said once again.

"What's there in Salford for me?" I questioned.

"So much! You can join The University of Salford under my guidance and complete your degree. Get a job and stand on your feet." He gave his reasons.

"And what will happen if I leave this place, study at college, look for job?"

"You will be free from this hell hole. You will be independent and strong, Nandini." He trailed off my name as I glared at him.

"No. It will satisfy your ego. That's it. All your reasons will not make my life any better but it will boost your so called ego." I said and he gaped.

"How can you say it? I am your well wisher."

My eyes misted. "Nobody can make me feel safe than my Manik. He is the only one who can lay his life in danger to protect me. I. Am. Not. Leaving. His. Side." I said every word loud and clear.

"That Manik is no more. Don't you see he hates the mere presence of you. You are nothing but a low ranked princess who climbed the ranks by marrying him."

"That's what you all are seeing! The connection I share with Manik is much deeper than any of you could understand. I know how to mend my marriage so please don't interfere." I know I am being harsh at the Professor who wanted good for me but I have to be like this and make him stay away from ruining my marriage.

"What about your self respect? You can't even have liberty to divorce your husband in this so called mafia world. The mainland is much better you will have your freedom, your choice, and your respect." He tried to convince me.

"There's everything except my Manik." I replied and his nostrils flared. "My self respect is intact when I stay with my husband and work on my marriage. Not by running away to another place with someone the first trouble I face."

"These people are toxic and dangerous for you. Everyone here are manipulating you." His eyes turned soft.

"Well, not everyone can handle the mafia world. You may leave this place and go to your mainland." I announced with no regret on my face.

"I will go. Not because you want me to go but because I can't tolerate the toxicity around here. Just because I am going doesn't mean I will no longer care about you. Remember that I will always be on your side and you can come to mainland anytime." He paused and kept his hand over my head. "I am not saying this as Mainlander who hates the mafia world but I am saying as your mentor."

"That won't be needed. I am not saying as a wife of mafia boss but I am saying as a wife of mafia boss." I concluded the argument in my style.

He chuckled.

What's there to laugh in this situation?

The professor took his bags in his hands and walked out of the mansion without even sparing a glance at Cabir who was a silent spectator all the time. Cabir stared at the entrance for as long as he could but didn't take a step further.
