The above cat is Songkit
"Is he ever going wake up?" Hopekit's ears pricked when he heard someone chirp. His vision was dark and empty but we're his ears open? They must've been!
"He'll wake up at his own time. You took just as long to open your eyes, Songkit." A shecat purred. Her voice was soft and warm and it made him feel fuzzy, was this feeling comfort? It must've been!
She must be my mother right? He wriggled when he felt a nose briefly touch his cheek accompanied by a soft mew, "He's so pretty!" A shekit mewed. I'm pretty? I'd love to open my eyes and see my pelt!
"And I'm sure he appreciates that, Flowingkit." The shecat mewed, briefly touching her nose against Hopelkit's shoulder. "He isn't that pretty." Another shekit said bitterly. "No need to be rude, Silverkit!" Flowingkit retorted, Hopekit then heard footsteps growing more and more faint and assumed she stormed off when he heard Flowingkit sigh, "I'll go talk to her," She then padded off.
Am I pretty or I am I not? Do I have siblings, what does my mother look like? All the questions were building up in his head and they needed answers, the only way to get those answers was to open his eyes.
He fluttered open his eyelids, a large ray of light immediately protruded his blurred vision. It took a few blinks but the blur cleared up and his vision was clear. He squinted his eyes, peering across the den. He looked around and saw the bramble lined nursery before him. Mossy vines hung from the mouth of the den, allowing the sun's rays of light to protrude as sudden streaks of light on the moss filled ground.
He widened his blue eyes and was immediately met with an eager screech. "He's awake!" A white furred shekit screeched. Hopekit shuddered, backing into his nest quickly. He then saw a full white shecat with Pale blue eyes lap her tongue over his head a couple times. "No need to scare your brother already. I understand that you're excited but let's give him some space."
Yeah, clear way for me! He bounced to his paws, his tail swinging from side to side, bolting with excitement he didn't hesitate to spring out of his nest and onto the nursery's cold but soft ground, his pads tingled at the cold but he didn't let it affect him and continued sniffing and smelling around.
"He's opened his eyes! Now can we go out and explore camp?" Songkit begged. Larkeye shot her an unsure glance before giving her head a hesitant nod. "You'll have to explore camp someday. I suppose you can but- both of you look like someone dragged you through a thicket of thorns." She sighed, rapidly covering Songkit in licks. Songkit grunted as her mother's tongue grazed her white fur, straightening the loose strands of fur.
Once she gave her a final look Songkit quickly shook her pelt. "Come here, Hopekit. I need to straighten your fur and get a good look at you."
Hopekit trotted back to her, his tail high. He met his mother's soft gaze, taking note of her gorgeous pale eyes. Do I have blue eyes? "His eyes are like the sky!" Songkit chirped. "Like mom's eyes?" Hopekit anticipated. Songkit paused casting both of them a few glances before shaking her head. "Mom's eyes are pale, almost gray but yours are like the sky. Very bubbly blue." Hopekit was disappointed by that answer but was happy he had bubbly blue eyes.Suddenly Larkeye began furiously picking at his chest and shoulders which made him squeal and attempt to scramble away from her only to be scooped up by a paw, pulling him back. He tried to argue but couldn't get the words out of his mouth. She finally released him and he dashed away, pawing at his pelt. "Look at you two, my beautiful kits. She would be so proud of you two." Larkeye purred warmly. Who's she?
"Hopekit took a while to open his eyes." Songkit commented. "Treefall would love him regardless. I'm sure she's very proud of you two already." She mewed. "Who is Treefall?" Hopekit wondered. "She was my mate but.." She dipped her head and the two kits understood what she meant. "What happened?" Songkit perked, absolutely no filter. Hopekit nudged her harshly on the shoulder to which Songkit simply shouldered him harder, "Don't nudge me if you don't want to be nudged back." She said sharply.
