Sumayyah stared at the dusty photo album , tracing her fingers over the faded images of a happier time . Her childhood seemed like a distant memory , a dream she could barely remember . But the photographs brought it all back , the good and the bad . As the sun set outside sumayyah closed the photo album with a sigh . She resolved to leave the past behind and to build a future filled with happiness and love . Someday , she would be a mother , and she would do anything in her power to make sure that her children never had the experience the darkness that she had . She would be the mother that her own mother had never been . And her children would know only joy and light . And in that moment , sumayyah felt a glimmer of hope for the future . In the photograph, her mother had a hand resting on her pregnant belly , a look of pure joy on her face .
Sumayyah placed her own hand on her stomach and made a silent vow . No matter what , she would be a better mother than the one she had . He pictured an image of a future with a happy family , a loving husband and children who never had to feel the pain she felt . The woman in the pictures , was so different from the mother she had become, cold and distant . In the pictures , she was always smiling , always laughing . But over the years , that light had faded from her eyes . Was it sumayyah's fault ? or was it something else ? What it her mother never really wanted children in the first place As sumayyah closed the photo album , her phone began to ring . It was her mother , calling her to remind of her Fathers birthday , she hesitated for a moment before answering. Unsure of what to say . But she knew that she couldn't ignore the call , no matter how much it hurt . Taking a deep breath, she answered the phone " Asalamalaykum? "
