October 7th Prompt: Red & Brown

~

Dear Diary,

I may, at last, have reached an understanding of this season.
Time once knew me to abhor the arrival of autumn.
It is chilly for no reason.
Sweaters are itchy and suffocating.
Hot tea is a necessity rather than a leisure.
The days are short, and the sun is scarce.
Everything turns red and brown, a god-awful clash of colors if anyone were to ask me, and all signs of life die and fade away.
It all appears rather depressing to me.
Well, I should say appeared.
I remain fixed in my opinion that red and brown are an offense to the eyes, but I don't see the autumn colors as just colors anymore.
It's about change.
The death of old things - not just a promise of but necessary for new life.
This season, which is in its nature exclusively change, has brought me into a reflective state of the change within me.
Change I am most grateful for.
I rather like autumn in fact.
I rather like the new life that is inside of me.
Wouldn't you know it; a chap like me, finding purpose in chilly winds and clashing colors.
Autumn is hope, hidden in death.
