It was a normal day as the two boys walked through the halls of their school.

One, was the infamous Ace Danger, the alpha of the school, and a tribrid. The only one of his kind. Other than his sister, Hope Mikaelson.

He’d decided to go by his own name and keep the fact that they were related a secret for as long as possible.

Walking next to him, was his best friend, Jared Cage. His right-hand man in the pack.

Ace held respect for his pack, and his pack had unconditional respect and loyalty for him. Though Jared was his best friend, he held no more respect for him than the other wolves.

Both boys were intimidating when they had to be, due to their status and physical physique. They were muscular, much more than the other wolves.

They walked into the gym, being greeted by handshakes from the other wolves that were just working out and training in combat with each other.

The boys went over to an empty mat and started sparring with each other.

Ace was slightly better at fighting than Jared, which is why he had Jared on the floor within 5 minutes.

“Dude, I’ve been training every day and you still beat me?” Jared said as Ace helped him up with a chuckle.

“Don’t beat yourself up, I’ve been doing this a lot longer than you. It just takes time, and practice. Plus, you’re already pretty good” Ace encouraged his best friend.

“I’m not gonna be any good until I beat you” Jared smirked, before sending a punch to Ace’s jaw.

Surprisingly, the punch hit, and Ace stumbled back.

Jared let out a victorious shout just before being met with a punch to the gut.

He doubled over, all the breath in his lungs gone.

“Never celebrate the small victories in battle, especially when your opponent isn’t done yet” Ace scolded him.

“Got it” Jared said breathlessly.

The lunch bell rang, and Ace and Jared made their way out of the gym, and to the cafeteria.

They grabbed their lunch and made their way over to their table.

They sat down and began eating, until Ace abruptly stopped, and turned his head.

“You okay man?” Jared asked, Ace didn’t respond.

“Ace? Hello” Jared said, waving a hand in front of Ace’s face.

Jared decided to use his hearing to hear what Ace was, and his heart dropped.

“Look at this, Ace’s parents were murderers or something. That is so creepy!” Jared heard a girl say.

He looked over at Ace and saw him stand up.

Jared opened his mouth to stop him but remembered the last time he tried that. Hed ended up in the infirmary for a week last time.

So, he just shrugged and stood up to follow Ace and watch the drama unfold.

“What did you say about my parents?” Ace asked as they stopped in front of the girl’s table.

Jared’s eyes were also glowing, not brighter than Ace’s.

Ace’s parents had been like Jared’s parents too, after he’d been kicked out by his real parents when he was just a child.

He was lucky that Ace’s parents had showed up otherwise he might not have been here today.

So, to say both were pissed would be an understatement.

The girls looked up at them nervously.

“Uh, n-nothing” one of them said.

“You do not want to lie to me right now” Ace growled.

“I’d listen if I were you” Jared warned them.

One of the girls decided to be cocky and antagonise the boys.

“You heard us” she smirked.

Ace vamped to the side of the table where she was sitting and hauled her up by the collar.

“You’re damn right I did” he snarled.

The girl now looked terrified.

“Now, I hold myself up to some standards, one of which include not hitting women. But there are still so many other things I can do”.

“W-what are you gonna do?” the girl asked.

“I haven’t decided yet” Ace tilted his head “You look like someone who cares about their reputation and looks. And I know you, your reputation precedes you. And I have an idea”.

Ace looked at Jared and nodded at him, Jared picked up all three girls’ trays and Ace used his magic to pick all the food up and throw it on the girl’s clothes, stepping away before he got hit.

The whole cafeteria then burst out into laughter and Ace and Jared joined in, although they were just chuckling.

The girl ran out of the cafeteria followed by the other girls.

Thirty minutes later, they heard the intercom.

“Ace Danger and Jared Cage, please report to the principal’s office”.

“Fuck’s sake” Ace said, before walking off.

Jared sighed and followed.

They arrived at the office and entered the room, seeing the girls glaring at them.

The one that got splattered with food had changed and cleaned herself off.

“Boys, sit down” the headmaster said.

They rolled their eyes and sat down in the two remaining chairs.

“So, why don’t you explain to me the incident in the cafeteria?”

The boys explained what happened from their side and the girls immediately denied it.

“That’s not true! We were minding our own business when these two came up and threw food at me!” the girl said.

“No, you started talking shit about my parents and I defended them” Ace said, remaining eerily calm.

“No, I wasn’t!”

Ace was brought out of his trance by the headmaster talking and calling his name.

“Ace!”

“Yeah?” he asked in a bored voice.

“I was talking about your punishment”.

“Punishment? For defending my family?” Ace asked.

He could feel his eyes were about to start glowing out of anger, but he was able to keep calm. For now, anyway.

“You attacked these girls for no reason! Not to mention your reputation in this school”

“He was just defending his family! Wouldn’t you do the same?” Jared asked, his eyes glowing now.

“You better control yourself before I suspend you” the headmaster said.

Ace opened his mouth to protest when he was interrupted by a soft and quiet voice.

“I have to say something” they all looked over at the open door and saw Ace’s childhood friend -who he also had a crush on- standing there.

She was your classic nerd. Red hair, the school jersey with the logo on, square glasses, brown eyes, and a plaid skirt.

Usually, Ace didn’t like to be interrupted, but when he heard her voice, he couldn’t be mad.

“What is it, Julia?” the headmaster asked.

“They’re right. These girls were talking badly about Ace’s family”.

The other girls looked at Julia like they wanted to murder her. For some reason, the sight made Ace’s blood boil.

Why am I getting so worked up about this? Ace thought to himself.

“They were?”

“Yes”

“Alright. But there’s no rule against that. What these boys did was wrong. I appreciate you telling me, but it won’t get them out of detention”.

The girls smiled smugly as they were dismissed by the headmaster.

Julia stayed a moment longer giving an apologetic look to Ace and he smile. He didn’t think Julia expected that because she blushed and hurried out.

Ace smirked to himself and glanced at Jared and saw him sending Ace a teasing look.

They both turned their attention to the headmaster when they heard him clear his throat.

“So, you have detention for three days which is equivalent to the number of trays you threw on Brittney” he said.

“Out of curiosity in the last month…how many times have we had detention?” Jared asked and Ace tried to keep his laugh in.

The headmaster sighed and looked in a book.

“Fifty times. Fifty times just this month” he said.

The boys laughed and high fived.

“New record!” they cheered.

“Enough!”

They both smirked and looked back at him.

“You boys have got to get you acts together. I can’t expel you since your family helps pay the bills every month. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t tell them about your behaviour”.

The boys got silent and just glared at the headmaster.

He sighed and dismissed them from the office.

Their classes were done for the day, and it was a Friday, so they headed to the gym, both intent on being up all-night exercising and training.

They entered the gym and saw the other wolves in there again. They greeted the wolves and went to their corner and started sparring.

They’d been training for thirty minutes, and Jared thought he had the upper hand, but while on the ground, Ace threw his leg out and caught Jared in the ankle, making him fall.

Jared groaned and Ace chuckled and got up, helping Jared up as well.

“You were close. Well done” Ace said, patting Jared on the shoulder.

“Alright, let’s go exercise a little more” Jared said.

They both walked over to the bench press and Jared laid down on it and grabbed the dumbbell as Ace positioned his hands underneath it, moving his hands to always be underneath the dumbbell.

Thirty minutes later, the boys were still working out and Ace was currently cheering on Jared to lift the bar for the hundredth time.

“Come on man, you can do it!” Ace cheered as Jared pushed the bar. “You’re so close come on!”

Jared rested the bar on the holder as he lifted for the hundredth time and Ace cheered.

“Yeah! You did it!” Ace high fived Jared as he cheered as well.

By that time, all the other wolves in the gym had left and gone to bed, since it was ten at night.

They turned their attention to the doorway as they heard footsteps.

They relaxed as they saw Julia walk through the door, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.

“Guys? Why are you up so late?” she asked.

“Uh…s-sorry, w-we were just working out” Ace stuttered.

He mentally slapped himself for stuttering in front of Julia and Jared. He knew he was going to get an earful about that later.

Julia giggled at Ace’s stuttering and his heart practically melted at the sound. He loved that sound.

“Okay, well, I’ll see you tomorrow then” she smiled at the boys before walking out.

Ace turned to Jared already had a teasing look on his face.

He sighed. This was going to be a long night.
