"Casyn," I heard a male voice call out to me. I turned to see Damian walking towards me.
"Yes?" I asked, feeling on edge by his presence.
Why was Damian here?
Did Azriel send him?
"Can we talk for a minute?" He asked.
If I was being honest I didn't have an issue with Damian, the only reason I was nervous around him is because I know he's friends with Azriel. Unlike Shane, Damian has never once picked on me, he even stopped Azriel one time when he was hitting me.
"About?"
"About Azriel."
My eyes widened at the mention of his name. I could feel my body tensing up as I kept looking around, checking every little crevice I could find to make sure he wasn't there, watching us, listening to our conversation.
"W-What about him?" I asked.
"What exactly is he doing to you? I know for sure he's been beating on you but what else?" Damian asked, watching, waiting for my reaction.
"He's not doing anything to me," I lied, hoping I sounded convincing. Judging by Damians reaction, I could tell he wasn't buying my shit.
"Yeah right," he said.
"Why do you want to know?" I asked.
"Because he's getting out of control with it. I knew he was picking on you to a certain extent, and it was really fucked up of me not to say anything then. I'm really sorry about that Casyn, I'm sorry that I didn't stop him or at least try to stop him with this first started but now he's putting his hands on you," Damian said, his tone matching the furious look on his face.
"Why do you care?" I asked.
"Because it's fucked up. I don't know you that well, but from what I do know of you, you're a nice guy. So I just can't understand why he's doing this to you?"
"That makes two of us then," I said.
"You don't know either?"
"All I know is that freshmen year we went from talking to each other in art class to one day he just started picking on me."
"It's more than picking Casyn," Damian said.
"I know, but I mean there's nothing I can really do about it you know," I said shrugging my shoulders.
"Nothing you can do? Hell there's a lot you can do. Don't just lie there and take it, fight back," Damian exclaimed.
"What's the point Damian. All it'll do is just intensify the issue, and I certainly don't want that."
At this point I was just mentally wore out. Between my abusive mother and Azriel, I was so wore out. I was tired of fighting back, I was now officially at the point where I was was just trying to ride it out until graduation. I had managed to save up enough money from some of the odd jobs I have been doing over the years, that after graduation I'd be able to leave this stupid place and actually get to live.
"So you're just going to lie down and take it then?" Damian asked.
"It's better to just lie down and take it then to poke the bear. So yes that's what I'm going to do."
Damian sighed out, sounding very annoyed with me, before I heard him speak again.
"Speak of the devil."
I looked up to see Casyn and Shane staring at us as they walked to their lockers.
Great he definitely saw us together, just perfect. That's all I need right now, I just know that he's going to have fun with me later for this little incident.
"Look I have to go." I said as I closed my locker, walking away from Damian as fast as I could.
"Casyn wait," he said, catching up to me in no time.
Damn him and his long legs.
"What?" I asked.
"What if I helped you?"
"What!"
"What if I helped to keep Azriel off of you?"
"Why would you do that? Aren't you friends with Azriel and his little posse?"
"I've been their friends for years now, but things have been tense with us lately. Mainly after I started hounding Azriel as to why he's been messing with you so much."
"Look I don't need your pity Damian. You're only doing this because you feel guilty. I'm just trying to get through four more months of this God awful place. Don't make it harder for me, that's all I'm asking."
Damian stared at me with this unreadable expression on his face, before he simply nodded at me. I quickly turned away from him, hauling ass to my next class before him or worse Azriel stopped me.
