*RING, RING, RING, RI-*
I pressed the volume down button on the side of the phone to turn off my blaring alarm. I squinted my eyes at my phone to see it was six on the dot. I groaned and rolled over, doing a huge stretch. School started at eight, but I already heard my mom and brother talking downstairs.
Our house was a pretty good-sized double-level home, but it had more of an open concept, so you could kind of hear a lot, depending on where you were in the house.
Jagger's basketball team was starting their early morning pre-season training at six on the first four days of the school week. I don't know how he did it, but he was one of the captains, so of course he was serious about it.
I was thanking God that I had my own car as well because there was no way I would be able to wake up any earlier than I just did. I felt like a dead slug...but it was the first day of senior year, and I was excited to see Lily and maybe meet some new friends and classmates, too.
I was hoping I had some good teachers because that would be half the reason if I made it through the senior year or not. Jagger was a junior, but he still acted like an overprotective older brother...when he wanted to. Sometimes, he could care less about what I did or not.
Forcing myself to get out of bed, I grabbed the outfit that I had laid out the night before and went to shower and get dressed. After I was done, I did some light makeup and straightened my hair, putting some pearl studs in my ears to finish off the look.
I sprayed on some of my favorite perfumes and was ready to go. I decided for a little more of a feminine look by wearing a white collared button-down under my uniform sleeveless sweater, matched with some cool bagging jeans and trendy white sneakers.
I felt comfortable, yet aesthetic. Lily was going to wear the same thing but with a matching plaid mini-skirt over tights with booties.
Grabbing the tote bag that I used for my pencil case, agenda, notebooks, and tablet, I headed downstairs to see why my mom was still up. She got home from her night shift around five in the morning, so maybe she couldn't fall asleep.
"Oh, my sweet girl! Good morning! Are you excited about your last first day? My big senior!" my mom exclaimed when I turned the corner into the kitchen.
I grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge to put in my tote and turned around to her. "Tired but excited. Why are you still up, Mom?" I asked, giggling as I grabbed a piece of toast with jam off the island that she'd prepared.
"I got back a little after five, but your brother was already up and moving around, so I decided to stay up to say bye to my two babies," she smiled, rubbing the side of my shoulder.
She was putting away last night's clean dishes, still in her nursing scrubs.
"Well, get some rest. I'm gonna get going because Lily claimed she got us Starbucks for our first day. Thanks so much for the toast, Mom," I grinned, patting her on the back as she bent over to grab some dishes.
