Chassity and Mei Ying were setting up the sleeping bags and snacks, waiting for their other friends to arrive for the sleepover. Well, Mei Ying was doing most of the work. Chassity was staring at the clock, a scowl plastered on her face, counting how many minutes late they were.
"That makes 3 minutes and 20 seconds. 21. 22. 23." Chassity counted.
"Good god, Chas! How long are ya gonna stare at the clock and pout before you come and help me with these decorations?" Mei Ying asked her obviously pissed off sister.
"They're LATE, Mei Mei! Don't you know how rude that is?! We told them to be here at a specific time and they have the audacity to come late! I'm telling you, the moment they come through that door I'm lashing out at everyone, starting with the driver."
Just then, almost on cue, there was a knock on the door. Chassity rolled up her sleeves and swung the door open only to be met with 8 people.
"Hello!" Trever said, his normal cheery face smiling back at Chassity's grumpy expression. "Sorry for being late, the GPS took us to an abandoned Wendy's. Also, while I was driving, I almost hit a deer and had a panic attack."
Chassity smiled at him and gently shoved him inside. As he was chatting with Mei, Chassity began to yell at everyone else for arriving late. Everyone was dumbfounded, but couldn't say anything until her rant was done. When she finished, Pluto asked, "Why are you yelling at us? Trever drove us here." She looked at her and turned around. "Don't blame him, if he hadn't had to carry a deadweight around like you guys, he would have been here early." Chassity was just like that sometimes, rude and never seeming to care. But everyone knew of her soft spots and just went along with it.
Everyone settled down, putting their bags in the closet. Once the games and food were brought out, the party began. Games of Poker were played, fizzy drinks were chugged, and dares were passed out like no tomorrow. Chassity and Pluto were flirting on the couch (lesbian mfs) while Cassidy and Kate played seemingly never ending games of rock, paper, scissors. Everything was going well until a loud shout erupted all of their thoughts.
"I said Uno before you, so DRAW!" Layla shouted.
"No, dumbass. I said it first, so just accept your loss." Chris, Layla's brother, said with his normally monotone voice.
The two kept arguing, their voices rising with every backhanded comment and insult. The mood was being killed as everyone simply stared at them. "Guys." Pluto said, getting off the couch. "Tragen sie Ihre argumente nach draußen, sie verderben die stimmung." Layla didn't know German, but since Chris did, he grabbed her and walked outside.
(if ur too lazy to whip out a translator *dw, me too bookie*, the german stuff means "take your argument outside, you're killing the mood")
Once the quarreling siblings left, the party resumed as if nothing happened. Kate began drinking heavy amounts of vodka while Cassidy decided to turn in for the night. Tezra was watching TV while Kenzie was sitting around, reading her book. But, something felt off. The mood was slightly churned by something besides the argument. Or rather.. someone.
Quite a lot of time had passed and the party was dying down, people were cleaning up, some preparing to turn in for the night, and Mei Ying and Pluto finished most of the leftovers, both earning a smack from Chassity. But Trever had a worried expression on his face. He sat on the couch, bouncing his leg up and down while occasionally looking over at the door. Kenzie scooted closer to him and tapped his shoulder, earning a slightly panicked head turn from him. "You good, Trev? You didn't take any sort of 'candy' Mei Ying offered, did ya?" Kenzie joked, attempting to lighten the very obvious tension. Trever chuckled and responded to her. "No, never. But.. aren't you worried?" Kenzie tilted her head ever so slightly as he continued. "I mean, Layla and Chris have been gone for a good long while. About 50 minutes. They should be back by now."
Kenzie began to ponder. Why weren't they back yet? Chris would have either gotten tired of Layla's childish remarks and walked back in long ago, or Layla would have thrown some ridiculous insults at Chris and stormed back inside. Either way, they should have been back a long time ago. Kenzie looked through the window and saw that neither of them were there. Had they left? Was this a prank that everyone but her was in on? She slowly turned to Trever, a confused look on her face.
"Nobody's out there."
This made Trever's face turn completely pale, the melanin in his skin seemingly being drained out of his body. He looked at her, shocked. "A-Are you sure? Like, 100%?" She didn't answer, instead walking over to the door and swinging it open, mortified at the sight in front of her. The car's tires were slashed, the doors were ripped off, there was a message etched into the car, "No Escape.. :)", and there was an arm under it, the hand cut off of it. Layla's arm. Kenzie made a motion to Trever, signaling him to come take a look at the scene before her. When he did, his face returned to the pale state it was before. He slowly stepped outside along with Kenzie and called out for Chris. Just then, the arm that was peeking out from under the car was dragged further underneath it, never to be seen again.
The two ran back into the house, panicked. They looked at everyone behind them, everyone was curious and asked what happened. Kenzie took it upon herself to explain the grim situation. "Alright.. nobody panic," the Scottish girl started, "but I think there's a murderer in these woods.." And so it began. Everyone grab the confetti, because the true party
has
begun.
