"Manifest? What is a Manifest?" Maria asked wiping sweat off her forehead.
"I dunno" The two took time-out for a water break.
Anerie International College apart from being the school of the Amadin's generation, it was also known to have an extraordinary timetable that made them engage in exercise on the most dreadful day of the week, Monday.
It was an activity that appealed only to the Junior students as they are fondly called The Johnny Just Come, JJC for short. This time though coupled with the Anerie annual carnival there was excitement in the air. The students and the teachers in general used the day to prepare.
Various performing groups had formed. The Dancers, The different traditional groups, the singers, acrobats and others. None though, entertained Eesha. It didn't bother her, because she wasn't planning on attending.
All Eesha was grateful for was the opportunity to move her body- Something she dreaded before.
She was punching and kicking at the air when Maria said. "You had the chance to know, instead you were fighting the ghost of your ex-boyfriend" Her tone was pissy yet her eyes were amused.
Eesha laughed despite the embarrassment.
"I'm done with that Sha... Let's race"
"EESHAAAAAA my legs are killing me"
"Toh let's jog. Please just round the field one time, then we'll rest, abeg"
"I am not going"
"Okay" Eesha began jogging, it did not take long for Maria to catch up with her. Eesha bit her lips to stop laughing.
Everything delighted her that Monday and she loved the feeling.
"That thing your aunt did, it's called?"
"She said Projection and no, I do not know how to do it... Maybe I cannot do it either" She recalled her conversation with Mama that morning when she asked "Was my real mother like Lady Teeyah?"
"No, I do not think so" Mama said scrubbing harshly on the rag she was washing. She did not look at Eesha.
"My real father?"
"Your parents were normal I was told" Now she looked at Eesha "If not I wouldn't have adopted you"
Dad honked and Mama looked relieved.
"Oya go to school"
"Maybe you can... Did you call them?" Maria brought Eesha out of her mind.
"They just came, I think, I do not know oh but I think my form called them"
Maria considered it for a moment, she slowed down to a walk, Eesha mimicked.
"And where is your form now?"
"Somewhere"
"Can you call it now?"
"Weeeeeelllll"
"Eesha-"
"No I did what you said, I tried calling form it did not come. I used sweet and harsh-"
"Hai-"
"Voice. I even tried to reach within myself. I did not feel anything. It'll just show up when it needs to"
"But you need to know how to call it"
"But what if I don't?"
"You do"
"I don't"
The banter died down when they Jessica in front of a group of girls. Sets lower than Eesha she observed, Mama and Baby amongst them. Jessica was whining and moving her hips, clapping her hands and moving in a rhythmic artistic way.
