My eyes are always wide, no matter the task or occasion. I'm not surprised, and there's no way in hell im frightened, i just can't afford to be caught with my guard down. I have to see everything. At all times. Nothing ever gets past me unless I want it too. I never let my guard down, no matter what im doing or what time it is. Not unless...someone I know has my back is nearby. Ever since Iguro ha left for a Intel mission, the days seem to pass by like a dream. A really boring and crappy dream, more specifically.

I grinds my Nichirin against the sharpening block, zoning out in the sound of metal scraping metal and the wind in my ears. Hm, I've always liked the sound, and they way it seems to deafen me. After a while, i feel himself fall forwards, and i jump. Was I nodding off?

Mh, I guess I had sharpened the sword so much that it slid off the block and cut my arm...

"That's good, blood only makes it stronger. Now for the other side-"

A large guest of wind tears through the trees, and after it dies down, there's a different rustle from deep inside. Something big is up there, and it just revealed itself.

"Get the hell down here."

"Its just me Sanemi." Iguro jumps down to a lower branch and I hum, feeling my body relax at the sight of him crouching on a branch. I'd rather it be him, than a demon of course. Or anybody else.

"Its sharpened enough Sanemi, you've been here for hours." I narrow my eyes and scoff.

"If you needed to use it, you should have just asked. It's not like I would say no."

"If I needed to i would have." Sanemi looks up at the tree he's in.

He stands up, wiping his bloody hand on his pants instinctively. Obanai jumps down and lands in front of him, his sword at his sheath.

"Look at your hands." Obanai's smaller hands lift mine, exposing the cuts and blisters on my palm. They're stick and red with old and new blood. My body tightens. "My sword-" I turn my head to look back at it.

"Sanemi, look at me."

I gaze into his eyes. They remind me of the sun and the moon, always watching. He never blinks, like the snake he keeps on his neck. My eyes close on their own, and I focus my being on the hands gripping mines.

"When was the last time you slept?"

"It...when you were last here." He sighs loudly and pulls my forehead into his, bringing our eyes to each other's level.

"Haha. I just can't leave you alone then, can i?"

His lips smells sugary sweet, even through the bandages. Mh.. Dessert.

"Did you save any Ohagi for me?"

"Yes, but only if you promise to sleep. If you wake up even once, then I'll throw them in the river." He reaches for the back of my head, and I sigh when his fingers run through my hair.

"I promise. If you were anyone else I'd punch you for threatening my precious dessert." He chuckles, and his snake sneaks closer to me, flicking its forked toungue at my nose.

"Good thing I'm not 'anyone else' then." I missed that sarcastic tone of his.

Hm...

I am a little tired.
