"So, Lavv, what's the plan?"
The plan? Oh, I'm glad you asked. This is something I am actually quite curious about. I've been debating starting something new, something fresh, something to keep my creative works alive while pursuing my freelance writing.
For those of you that might not understand the freelancing world, let me give you a little bit of a rundown:
If you want to be successful as a freelancer, you can't just treat it as some "side hustle" or "gig" in your life. You have to treat it like a business. You have to make social media accounts, organize a portfolio, create a brand, all that fun stuff.
One of the most fundamental steps of creating a freelance writing business is building an online portfolio. This portfolio would demonstrate all of your previous work experiences while using SEO tactics to attract new potential clients. There are many websites that host portfolios now (Upwork, Contra, etc.) but most freelancers like to have their own website to seem more professional.
I've reached the point in my freelance writing journey where I'm ready to start my own website. I've made quite a bit of progress so far, and I anticipate it being ready by the end of the month.
Here's the kicker: remember when I mentioned SEO tactics to attract new clients? SEO, standing for Search Engine Optimization, is what makes your website actually show up on other people's pages. For example, if you look up "dog hairbrush" on the internet, SEO will recognize your keywords and suggest the most useful websites to you based on what you searched and how SEO relevant the website is.
One of the most popular ways to use SEO in the freelancing world is through a blog.
I've wanted to start a blog for a while now. I've been getting back into creative writing, and I have so many stories I want to share. In a perfect world, I would want two blogs connected together as one on my internet: a blog sharing useful information in my niche to attract clients and get more blog writing practice in, and a blog to share my creative works.
I have learned so much about writing over the course of these five years (wow, five years? I can't believe it's almost been that long). I've learned how to develop a story, how to grow a plot, how to shape a character, how to form a message... And I've learned how to attract readers, how to capture attention, how to use the right photos and websites and graphics to bring an audience and keep it.
I want to start a blog to share my new creative works, and I would be honored if you joined me.
Please note that blog won't have any fanfiction. I still like the idea of writing fanfiction (for what fandom, I'm not sure. I'm thinking maybe Spy X Family of Jujutsu Kaisen, but these are just thoughts). It will be focused purely on travel articles for business and original creative stories for fun.
But with that being said, there is something else I want to do regarding Ans You'll Be My Queen...
Every November, writers across the globe take up the challenge to write a story within the span of that month. This common challenge is called NaNoWriMo (standing for National November Writing Month), and it has produced many fruitful and incredible stories.
I wish to take up the challenge with a revamped version of And You'll Be My Queen.
Now, I will say this challenge won't be my entire priority. School takes first priorities, then my jobs and business, then this. But I believe if I juggle everything correctly and write what I can, I will be able to get this story one step closer to publication.
I've met some amazing characters. I would love for you all to meet them as well, and let them remind us of our old friends from this anime we once loved.
I want to share my NaNoWriMo account with you all so you can follow me there, if you so desire. Please do not feel any pressure to read my works. I've come to a point now where I simply write for fun, for passion, for life.
I want to be an author. I want to write fiction for a living. That is my life's goal, my one aspiration. I began writing fanfiction and freelance writing to support that goal, not to steal it. Now, it's time for me to remember who I am.
I would honored if you joined me there.
On November, I'll share the link to my account to my announcement board. Please do not come to the account with pleads to resume AYBMQ. That story has faded into ashes, and now, I want to cradle the new baby phoenix that is desperate to rise from those ashes.
If you do have any questions or concerns though, please leave them here. Let's chat. I want to connect with you again however I can.
But until then, stay tuned for NaNoWriMo and the upcoming blog! (And drink water you dehydrated bitches).
