As I walk towards Darron's house, my heart is racing with excitement and anticipation. I know that I'll finally get to see Max, the guy I've had a crush on for so long. However, as I get closer to the house, I notice two other cars in the parking lot. To my surprise, I recognized Olivia and Max's car. I hesitate for a moment, wondering if I should turn back, but I don't want to be a party pooper, so I take a deep breath and approach the door. Darron opens the door, welcoming me with a warm smile and a "Hey, welcome!" I take a look around and notice the family portraits and gold accents on the wall. This is a welcoming and comfortable home. After greeting everyone, I joined the girls in the living room. Max smiles at me and says, "Hi, Sam." My heart skips a beat as I smile back at him, feeling butterflies in my stomach.
I ask Olivia what they are up to, and she replies, "We're getting ready to play 7 minutes in heaven." I'm excited as this is my chance to be alone with Max, well, almost alone. I inquire how to play, but Abby and Gracie laugh at me. Darron explains the rules, "You get randomly selected with someone and get placed in a closet for seven minutes." I find it interesting and can't wait to start. Max is also eager to begin, and we all form a circle to spin the bottle. The bottle points towards Abby and Gracie, and they go into the closet. Meanwhile, I sit on the couch and scroll through TikTok, trying to hide my nervousness. I steal glances at Max and Olivia, who are talking and laughing. My heart starts to boil with jealousy, wondering if they'll be paired up. As Darron announces that it's time for the next round, I can feel the sweat on my palms.
The bottle spins, and my heart races as I watch it slow down, finally stopping on Max. I can't believe it; I'm finally going to be alone with him. As we enter the closet, I can feel my face turning red with excitement and nervousness. We sit in silence for a few seconds before Max breaks the ice, "So, how have you been?" I take a deep breath and reply, "I've been good, thanks. How about you?", "good". I looked at my fingernails and wondered what to do. "so how's school?", I asked. "Good." I looked up and I wondered if I should kiss him. "Hey Max can I-", "Kiss me." I froze and looked straight into his icy blue eyes.
As Max's fingertips continued to caress my bottom lip, I couldn't help but feel my heart race. The tingle on my back intensified, and I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks. Despite the time limit, I wanted to savor every moment of this experience. Darron's voice broke the brief moment of silence. He announced that we had five more minutes left, and Max leaned in for a kiss. Our lips met, and it was like fireworks exploding in my heart. The gentle touch of his lips against mine was electrifying, and I felt like I could stay in that moment forever. But just like that, our time was up. As the door swung open, we broke apart, catching our breath. Max brushed a strand of hair from my forehead and whispered, "Your lips are so soft." I blushed, feeling both shy and exhilarated at the same time. "That was...amazing," I said, and he nodded in agreement. As we gathered our things and headed out, I couldn't help but replay the moment in my head. It was something I would never forget.
Darron looked over at us like we just did something suspicious. "What happened in there?" he asked with a smirk. I looked at Max and started to laugh. Max looked away, embarrassed of what he had done. "Nothing much," I said, trying to play it cool. "Just had a great time." Darron raised his eyebrows but didn't say anything else. As we walked away, I couldn't stop smiling. It was a moment that I would always cherish, and I knew that Max felt the same way. We said our goodbyes, and I headed home, feeling both happy and content. As I lay in bed that night, I thought about Max's lips against mine, and I felt my heart race all over again. It was a feeling that I never wanted to forget.
