The wind whistled through the trees, as a she-cat yowled in pain. The wind was not loud enough to drown out the pain she was in. She pushed, shattering the stick in her jaws. A worried cat, tom cat, pushed himself inside the tree roots with the she-cat. He was holding some leaves in his jaws, trying to sooth the cat while he worked.
"Don't worry, yourso close to being done, I brought some herbs to sooth the pain." He pawed some little brown seeds over to her. She weekly lapped them up. But another pain rippled through her. The tom suddenly brightened up.
"Push a few more times," he mewed exitedly," two are coming!" The she-cat pushed, huffing for breath. Suddenly, a slimy little ball of fur came sliding out. The new mother lapped at her kit, but then the other came, smaller and weak.
" We will love them, no matter what."
