Samrat felt the air leave his lungs when he recalled the kiss. She kissed him, she freaking kissed him on the cheeks. He felt like a giddy teenager who just got some attention from his crush.
He jumped on his bed and shouted on the pillow, his screams muffled up. His neck and cheeks heated up with all the dopamine released. Suddenly he felt a lot of adrenaline rush and a serotonin boost.
He checked his mobile which was kept on the night table and frowned when there wasn't any message from her. It's been a week since her father was discharged and a week since she kissed him. And again he blushed scarlet imagining it.
It was just a kiss on the cheek for god sake, you're behaving like a teenager, high on hormones
His subconscious self mocked and he just scowled. Oh please, a kiss is a kiss, no matter if it's on the cheek or lips.
He was engrossed in his daydreaming session when he was disturbed by a knock on the door. He quickly straightened his appearance and whispered a faint come-in. Sarah poked her head inside and then quickly ran, standing before him.
"Aap Adu se pyaar karte ho Bhai?", she out of the blue asked and he choked on the water he was drinking
"Yeh kya kahe rhi ho Saru tum?", he questioned flabbergasted, eyes opened wide like saucers. Isse kaise pata chal gaya?
"Chup chap bataiye na Bhai, Do you love her?", she questioned again, tapping her heels impatiently on the floor with her hands wrapped around her chest trying to intimidate him
"I can't imagine the day I won't", he answered without thinking as her smiling face and brown eyes flashed in front of him. A small smile grazed his lips and his heart felt that peace again at the mere thought of her.
"Iska matlab Mera Shak sahi nikla, pyaar ho gaya hai aapko Adu se", the teasing voice of Sarah brought him out of his la la land, her lips were twisted in a teasing smile, and eyes held that mirth which annoyed him
"Tu mujhe kyu itna chidha rhi hai, ja bhag yaha se", he glared at her and shooed her with his hand gestures
"off ho bhai, usse meh toh maza hai", she continued. "Tu khud bhag rhi hai ya Ma se shikayat Karu teri?", he threatened
"Kyu itna sadh rhe ho? Vaise mai toh aapko kuch important baat batane aai thi", she spoke grabbing his attention
"Vho dadi na aapka rishta pakka karne ka soch rhi hai, isliye pehle hi bata de rhi hu jakar jaldi Adu ko propose kar lijiye shaadi ke liye. Please usse meri bhabhi bana dijiye na, ham dono bohot maze karenge, pure Maheshwari Mansion meh hurdang macha denge, aur dadi ko bhi bohot pareshan karenge, Ma-", Sarah went on with her ranting but the only thing which rang in his ears were, that his dadi was fixing his alliance with someone else.
He couldn't imagine sharing his life with someone who wasn't his Adriti. His Riti would be the only one who would be his bride and he was ready to cross any extent to make her his.
So without thinking about anything, he grabbed his car keys and dashed out of his room. In the hall, his mother and dadi sat discussing something with the pandit ji but all their voices turned deaf to his ears. He quickly sat in his car and drove off. Adriti's workplace was his next destination.
Adriti removed the apron and placed it on the counter. She stretched her body, trying to relax her stiff muscles. The past week was way too overwhelming for her and her family. Her father was finally discharged and healing well, all thanks to Samrat.
Samrat, the name itself brought a smile to her face and made her blush the deepest shade of red. The man had successfully entered her heart and made her feel emotional she never felt before.
She remembered how with her one phone call he came rushing for her and helped her during need. She felt her heart beating at the mere thought of him and heat rushed to her cheeks as the kiss flashed in front of her. She touched her cheeks, checking if she had a fever because they were burning furiously.
Hitting her head, she sat on the stool. It all happened in the heat of the moment. But the way he had hugged her, provided her with his comforting embrace and whispered all sorts of soft and soothing words when she was an emotional mess, made her feel so special. He was so gentle with her and earned her heart again and again with his actions.
She was pulled out of her Samrat's delulu land when the door of the cafe was furiously dashed open, almost breaking it.
A panting Samrat stood near the door, his breathing ragged and sweat glistening on his forehead. She took hurried footsteps towards him, her face marked with concern.
"Aap thik toh hai Samrat?", she questioned, worry laced her tone. He just continued to look at her, taking in bits by bits her every feature.
"Mujhse shaadi karlo Riti, let's get married", he put front his demand without thinking twice. Adriti looked at him shocked and searched for any sort of uncertainty in his eyes, but found none.
Her cheeks heated up, his tone was so serious and she knew he wasn't joking. She was aware that they shared some sort of connection. There was a certain pull between them and she was glad it was mutual. But still, she had second thoughts about it.
"Yeh aap kya kahe rhe hai samrat? This is not possible, how could I marry you? It's just impossible", she said seriously and sat on the stool shaking her head
"I don't care how complicated things get, I just want you Riti", he spoke kneeling in front of her and taking her hands in his
"Aapki dadi? Unka kya?", she questioned as tears gathered in her eyes. "Tum unki tension mat lo, mai sab sambhal lunga. Just tum shaadi ke liye ha kardo", he said again, his tone serious as well as assuring
"Per-", "per-ver kuch nhi. I love you Adriti, I love you a lot. Please marry me", he spoke, he knew it wasn't a perfect ideal proposal a girl expected but at the moment he did what felt right. He couldn't imagine anyone other than her in his life. He wanted to wake up beside her every morning, sleep with her in his embrace, eat with her, be with her, and spend an eternity with her making her his. Her belonging to him, and only him.
"I love you just the way Dad loves Ma Riti and don't want anyone else being my wife than you", he spoke with so much emotion that Adriti couldn't control her tears anymore. She joined their foreheads and sobbed wrapping her arms around his neck.
"I love you too Samrat", and at that moment she knew she loved him, more than anything, more than she could imagine.
