"God! Why me everytime" I was totally annoyed at the idea of spending a Friday night socialising when all I wanted to do was order delivery food and binge watch Netflix. It's been less than a month since I had joined Moonshine as the CEO's new secretary so I was obliged to attend the company's annual office party.

Moonshine was originally a luxury jewellery brand but it had expanded its business into perfumes, footwear and what not. The founder of the brand, Arthur Wilson had two sons and his youngest one was recently appointed as the new CEO while the elder one was a neurosurgeon.

Although the theme was elegant and dressy, I wasn't a dress person so I went for the most dressy outfit I could and that was plain camisole, paired with a skirt and a crop jacket along with combat boots. I grabbed my phone and purse in a hurry as I was already late.

Getting out of the apartment, I saw the hallway decorated with boxes ."Damn you, Collins!" I knew who the boxes belonged to and I couldn't curse my new neighbour enough for his mini display of furniture in the hallway.I tried making my way through the boxes in a hurry, but nothing can ever go right in my life.

I fell between the boxes and then heard a chuckle from behind."This isn't funny,Aiden.Help me get up, I'm already late for the stupid party"

"It's funny you grumpy old lady," Aiden replied, giving me a hand.

I stood up and flicked his forehead "That's what I get for helping you?" "Call me old again and I might break your bones" "Let's argue on our way to the party?" Aiden suggested and I nodded.

Aiden was the closest thing I had to a friend and a family. Not like I did not have any parents but they were just too interested in my little sister who was the vice president of a bank, so they never really cared. Aiden was a well known fashion designer and model. He was also very good friends with my new boss, Christopher Wilson.

On reaching the venue, I felt sweat forming on my forehead, seeing such a large amount of people at one place. "You need to get this treated," Aiden said while offering me his handkerchief. "Get what treated?" I asked clearly knowing what he was talking about. "Your anxiety,Watson" "I don't have anxiety, it's just hot in here" "Sure" he scoffed and walked away to meet people while I roamed my gaze around the room, trying to find someone to talk to.

CHRISTOPHER

My cheeks were starting to hurt from the amount of smiling I'd done in the last 45 minutes. I would make a great actor if I wasn't a businessman because Oh God do I have the realest fake laugh you can have.

I sipped on my drink, standing along with some business partners of mine, eyes wandering here and there until they stopped at a pair of hazel orbs. Orbs that screamed help "Excuse me, gentlemen" I said and walked towards my newly appointed secretary .

"Good evening, Miss.Watson" I passed her a small smile. "Evening,Mr.Wilson. My apologies for being late" she said in that soft honey voice of hers that makes me go insan- NOPE not doing that.

"Help yourself for a drink and relax. You look too nervous to be attending a party" I tried lightening up the environment. "I'm sorry Mr.Wilson, not quite used to spending friday nights like this" "What's your ideal friday night then?" "I don't think that's something to discuss really"She chuckled a little.

"Go ahead, we're at a party afterall. What's the point of attending a party if all I do is talk about stocks with these people?" I referred to a group of people my dad was talking to. "Don't you have experience attending these?" and I could feel her relaxing a bit more than before, thank heavens !

"Yeah but attending as the chairman's son and attending as the CEO are totally different. I actually liked being only the chairman's son" There! I heard a soft laugh.

"Chris!" I heard my dad call me, probably to join him in the ever so boring discussions.

"Excuse me, Ms.Watson" "Sure".

I wanted to look back to see if she was comfortable or not but something in me told me not to.
