I just came for the data storytelling competition,
I prepared for a day and didn't know what to expect, so I tried my best to prepare.

The day came, and I was scared,
If I can bring a trophy to my school or go back tearing to shreds.

Arrived first before anyone else,
Me and my schoolmates and I are getting comfy in our chairs.
Waited an hour for everyone to arrive,
Making me feel nauseous as time goes by.

Took a quick nap as the cold breeze went by,
Didn't even take a glance around to just say hi.
Pondered what would I do,
If I didn't win an award or two.

Woke up to a shake,
From my friend who was keeping me wide awake.
I looked around with my drowsy eyes,
And then I saw you from the corner of my eyes.

I looked at you in awe as you were reading and writing,
Making me wonder, "Will I ever beat him?"
As the minute goes by, he looks around,
I tried to greet him with a bow, but he looked at me and turned around.

Feeling hurt, that was what I have felt,
During the moment where I only aim to greet them.
Just gave a silent scoff and thought deep,
Then I came back to my senses, for I was ready to win.

They opened the ceremony with a talk,
Meanwhile, my eyes were fixated at the sight of him seating there.
Took a deep breath and sighed,
I have to stay so I can win at first try.

The 1 hour and a half timer began,
I looked at the data presented that was on hand.
Studied and wrote what I should say and do,
But in my peripheral vision, I see you.

Got annoyed by that sight,
But I sighed as it was out of my line.
I took a deep breath and said,
"Gosh, that is one annoying guy, that guy over there."

He was very fidgity, making me look at his spot,
But I reminded myself I came here to bring home the pot.

I wrote my best using 700 words,
But while I was writing, I saw him resting his back from his chair.

Funny, I thought,
How my competitor finished before I even got to the main point of it all.

I looked at the timer and saw,
There were only 10 mins left for me to finish it all.
All my competitors were done,
It makes me anxious to even end it.

I devoured every minute and second,
Drew graphs and charts just to make it look that I interpreted.

I sighed as the timer had ended,
Looked around to see them all already rested.
I was anxious about my score,
But I got more anxious when I talked to my other foe.
