Chapter 2
~Nya's POV~
Crawling from underneath a mech (weighing several tons) should have been harder, but I had enabled myself to possess a fairly huge amount of strength. Gazing at my reflection in the shiny metal of the Samurai X mech, I saw a warrior protected by a thick layer of armor. I was Samurai X, the protector of Ninjago and a worthy ally to the Ninja. Kind of. I smiled to myself because, although it was hard work to create the Samurai altogether, I was pleased with the fruit of my labors. Through him, I was something I wasn't. I was brave, courageous, and popular among the inhabitants of Ninjago.
The familiar words Lloyd had said still resonated in my brain; you have to tell the other ninja at some point. Although I knew he was referring to my fighting abilities, it could also be applied to revealing my identity. Sure, I could maybe show them my skills, but why would I have to expose my identity? It would help increase our chances of winning a battle, but then again, the Ninja could have an unpleasant reaction.
"Go home!" I heard an all too familiar voice from behind me—Kai, joined by the group of Ninja. Naturally they were wearing their gi's to hide their identities. I stopped daydreaming and smashed a button on the mech: the homing device. I drew my katana, raising it in case I had to defend myself. Of course I would not hurt them. The Ninja took a step back as I approached them.
"I am an ally to you. We should be fighting alongside instead of against each other." I said in a raspy, metallic voice. I was wearing a helmet to mask my appearance, and I had customized it in order to change my normal girly voice into a one that sounded to be of a male.
"We don't need your help," Cole challenged, and I rolled my eyes. Due to the fact that the Ninja were primarily focusing on me, they were unaware of the band of Serpentine—an ancient race of snakes—about to ambush them from behind. I ran forward, katana in hand, and the Ninja drew their weapons A/N: (Kai-sword, Jay-nunchucks, Zane-shurikens, and Cole-scythe)
"Fire! Lightning! Ice! Earth!" the Ninja cried, raising their hands to prepare to unleash their elements upon me.
"No!" I yelled. "Behind you!" The Ninja turned around and made eye-contact with the Serpentine, who had drawn their swords. Zane immediately sent a wave of ice, freezing the group. The Ninja began cheering and fist bumping each other. Quietly I stepped into the shadows and made a run for it.
(Time Skip: At Destiny's Bounty)
Throwing myself on the couch next to the other Ninja, I continued watching the NGTV news program, which was discussing the battle from today. Garmadon had apparently sent a group of Serpentine to destroy the Ninja. Lucky for them, they had Samurai X to thank for to still be alive,
"It's not fair! Samurai X didn't do anything!" Cole groaned as Gayle Gossip began interviewing several witnesses, all saying the same thing: "the Ninja wouldn't still be here if it wasn't thanks to Ninjago's hero, Samurai X. They owe their lives to the man behind the mask."
After a period of silence I awkwardly announced, "You guys do owe Samurai X a favor. If it wasn't for her—HIM—you wouldn't still be here with me complaining once again about how horrid he is to have saved your lives."
"So you're on the Samurai X side...the betrayal. Wow." Kai muttered.
"I'm not picking sides, you need to give him a chance. I talked to him once and he told me how hard it was to hide under his mask. Have you ever seen his cave? It looks as if he put in years and years of work!" I icily replied. Suddenly, I realized I had said too much. The Ninja hardened their gaze at me.
