Luke laid in his bed staring at the ceiling quietly. Not a single noise was heard in his room except the sound of his fan blowing cool air. He picked up his phone, a small part of him hoping he would see what he had always seen the day before, a goodnight text from his boyfriend. He let his arm fall to the bed, phone still in hand. He shut his eyes "I can do this, you have gotten over someone before, you can do it again." With one deep breath he opened his eyes again and went onto social media, mindlessly swiping through the feed, he eventually fell upon an image.
A couple smiling together. His ex, Derek, is a whole different guy. Emotions swirled in his mind, anger, disgust, but the biggest one, sorrow. He began to wonder what he didn't have that this guy had. The more he thought about it the more deeply the sorrow began to set in. His heart became more and more heavy, tears threatened to fall, put his hands over his face, wanting the pain he felt so deep inside to turn off. His body convulsed slightly as his emotional cup overflowed, he began to sob uncontrollably, his body finally unable to contain the feelings anymore. He screamed a cry of pain from the deepest part of his being. But even with all the painful energy in his voice, no one heard him. All he wanted was to run back to the man he loved, to be held and told it was gonna be okay.
He began to have flashbacks of their relationship, He screamed for the memories to shut up, to leave him alone an internal chaos attacked him. He began to throw things across the room, tearing up all memories he had from his ex, from pictures to the many love letters he received from him. Luke told himself he would be mature about it, but how can someone even maintain maturity when the one who was his forever cut the string of fate that intertwined them. After destroying nearly half his room in a fit of sorrowful rage he sunk to his knees, tears still streaming down his cheeks. He knew he didn't deserve this, who would be in his position? He fell over, slipping into a depressed slumber.
6 months later
Luke sat in a coffee shop reading a book on his tablet, he sipped his drink quietly before taking a moment to look out the cafe window. The park was bustling with many people, playing games, jogging, bike riding, and so many different activities but he preferred his calm relaxed reading. After a while he began to realize he needed to take life back from himself. So he did, getting back into what he loved before he gave his all to a false prophet. He began to fall back in love with life again. Closing his tablet he got up from his table quietly leaving the shop and waving bye to the waitresses who knew him as a regular. As he heard the jingle of the door he accidently bumped into someone. He jumped back and looked to see it was Derek. Astonishment written on his face as he looked at Luke he almost looked like he was about to say something but was quickly shoved aside by Luke.
Luke heard Derek's voice shout from a distance trying to get him to talk to him. Memories flashed into his head again for a moment, before they could go any further he shook his head. He wasn't gonna let all his progress be thrown away. He ran to his apartment and shut the door, putting his hand over his heart trying to calm the whirlwind that almost swept his emotions. He sank to his knees cursing under his breath.
As the hour passed by he calmed and went back to enjoying his peace benging his favorite show. But something sat in the back of his mind, when he saw Derek he didn't seem like he was, he wasn't as fit, his outfit kinda disheveled as if he had lost a lot of his confidence. A knock at his door pulled him outta his head. He quickly went to the door and looked through the peephole. Instant terror surged through his body as his ex stood at the other side of the door.
"Luke, c-can we talk?" Derek stuttered from the other side. Luke stayed quiet for a moment. Did he really want to approach something that caused him so much pain?
"How did you find my apartment?" he peeped through the peephole looking at his disheveled appearance.
"y-your mom gave it to me." Derek looked to the side a little. Luke cursed under his breath, He was going to scold his mom later. He sighed gathering his negative emotions and storing them away, getting mad was not gonna clear any of the air. He opened the door and peeked his head through.
