It has been years since Klaus Michaelson took his life and after gathering the Hallow to save his daughter Hope. Hope had been growing and thriving at the school showing everybody what she can and can't do as she was  learning how to control her impulses.

After Klaus had died, Elijah took off. He wasn't sure if he should have left letters for his sisters. He decided to  leave a letter for his family. He told Hope of how good her father ended up in the end. How he tried to make every wrong a right. I never hold him responsible for anything strange and unusual. I could happen her
way and the future. He needed his space. That has been very hard for him not to be around his brother. He's been around for centuries.

They often talked about everything yelled by everything. Sometimes even painting was involved. Nevertheless, Elijah was at a loss for his brother Klaus.

Elijah took off for a different state. First he went into the country, began working on a farm digging holes and planting crops as if his to his past when it come to haunt him. We know that didn't take long.
Elijah soon left. The farm heading west dressed his finest, his hair combed and he was looking for God knows what. He finally stopped in New York City. It was dark outside but was ok because the streets were alive.
