The Get Back

Chapter One

"That's  a crazy idea.." Sophie said, laughing at the thought of her friend, Poppy, being serious.

"That's the point..., I think people need a little crazy in their life anyway," Poppy responded to her doubtful friend. "Besides, it wouldn't hurt to make it happen, and it's not that crazy of a plan...It's just lying a little with just a hint of manipulation." She said the last part a bit quieter, but she still seemed serious. She turned to the other person in the room with them. "What do you think, Melanie?"

Melanie was already engaged in the conversation prior, but hearing her friends argue about the logistics of Poppy's scheming, she decided to stay silent. "So far, I love the idea,  but I don't think he'd be into it," she said skeptically. It wasn't a bad plan, but she did feel a little guilty about lying to some pretty famous people.

"Look all I'm saying is that Duke Cavill himself is holding a debut ball at his summer villa and I know a guy who can sneak us in," Poppy said with a smug look on her face. Honestly, Melanie wasn't sure what to make of her plan, she couldn't have been serious. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't considering going along with her convoluted plot to get her in the same room with the duke. She thought about it real hard and took a polite sip of her tea "...I'm in." Melanie declared while Poppy gave a sly smirk at her declaration.

"You're both going to end up in chains," Sophie said looking exasperated.

"You're not coming with?" Melanie asked concerned about leaving her friend out. 

"No, too many people, plus I don't want to get in trouble with you guys," she said taking a few bites out of her tea cake, looking more stressed with every bite.

"Oh we aren't going to get in trouble it'll be quick, in and out. It's hardly an evil or complicated plan." Poppy clarified to both of her friends. "Let's just say we are 'volunteering our services'," she said taking a big swig out of her tea.
