This is not what Melanie had in mind at all. She was dressed in a very simple, but dull dress, with a used apron tied around her waist. Sure, they were both just ladies in waiting but, they both had class and status. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough status to get into the party. And only Poppy could think of a plan so bold and brazen. "What are we waiting for...?"

"We have to wait for the guy," Poppy said in a hushed voice. She was looking in every direction and you could almost make her movements as panic, that is if she wasn't smiling the whole time.

"-Poppy..." A man called from behind a bush. He was a short and bald man with an almost bigger smile than Poppy.

"Uncle! Finally, I was beginning to think you weren't coming." Poppy whispered loudly to the man who was revealed to be her uncle. She stepped toward him and hugged him. Seeing Poppy like that was heart-warming but it only made Melanie confused about her lineage.

"Alright girls, sneaking you should be easy if you don't mind working for it," Poppy's uncle said looking at the girls with an almost insane look on his face. Melanie looked over at Poppy and saw an even crazier look in her eyes.

"This is ridiculous Poppy...!" Melanie loudly whispered, almost yelling back at Poppy who was walking close behind her.

"Oh hush up... You'll be fine. We just need to take these rags in and we'll be inside...We only have to help with this..." Poppy said playfully almost mocking Melanie's aversion to touching something dirty. "Besides these are what's hiding our actual clothes for later," She said assuredly.

"Enough talking girls...You need to get in quietly," Poppy's Uncle said walking up next to both of them holding what looked like a heavy crate with an assortment of vegetables.

Poppy acknowledges her uncle and both her and Melanie walk quietly with their heads down toward the side of the giant mansion. As soon as they walk past the guards Melanie raises her head to take in the large foyer and slows her walk to take in all the details on the stairwell and the prints on the wall. "Beautiful-"

Poppy pushes Melanie forward and continues walking. "Keep walking we don't want to be late...We have to be able to blend in with the crowd while people are still coming in" She said now walking ahead of Melanie. She follows close behind still taking just a few moments to admire her surroundings.

Poppy's uncle finally led them to the kitchen and set the crate down on the counter. The kitchen was busy and moving, and Melanie was mesmerized by all the servants working together. Poppy's uncle led them both to the bread closet, it smelled stale and it was packed full of different dry breads and pastries. "Alright girls, this is where you can change...Oh and hide your clothes over in that corner," He said pointing to one of the corners that had bags of flour piled up on each other. He began to close the door and walk away but Melanie stopped him. "I never got your name..," she said looking down at him.

"It's Paul, ma'am...Have a good night then," He said reaching for her hand to shake, a genuine smile on his face. He went to close the door again and as soon as they couldn't hear anyone near the door they both started to get undressed.
