Chapter 6- Kamali

201 2 12

I wake.

Shadows. Whispers.

Blood. Rowan.

Lying on the floor.

Aelin. Screaming.

Mates.

Carranam. Lost. Betrayed. Dead.

Murdered.

Kill the Queen.

I advance.

Fire filling the room.

A white wolf.

Six blinks.

Liar.

Fire. Death.

And then nothing.

I wake.

Pain. Burns.

The shadows swirl.

Cold iron.

A voice. Male.

"Can you hear me?

You're alright."

I look up from the stone floor.

Darkness.

Slim gap of light.

Iron bars.

Silver hair. Moonlight.

Betrayal. You tried to kill him.

My friend.

"Kamali. It's alright. I'm fine."

I shake my head.

Shadows dance around my new cell.

Another man. He enters.

I recoil. Not Him. Dorian.

His son.

Not Him. I relax.

Like father, like son.

I shake my head. No. Dorian is kind.

HE was not. Not kind at all.

"She was like this at Adarlan too."

Dorian. Not Him

"I can't get through to her."

Rowan. My friend. But I betrayed him.

Shadows.

Sliver of light through the door.

Blocked by a body.

White wolf. Sprinting. Forest.

Snow falling.

We stop. Rest. He flicks his tail at me.

I nuzzle into his side.

Lying down. Curled up together.

Change. Golden hair.

Onyx eyes. Shining. Light.

Light.

"What are you doing down here?"

Dorian. His son.

"Trying to help her."

Fenrys. My sun.

My light.

The shadows creep up my body.

His phantom touch.

Haunting me.

"Kamali. Come back to us."

White wolf. Hugs me.

Curled up together.

The shadows retreat. My light.

I shiver. White wolf hugs me tighter. "Marli..."

He left you. Alone.

To be tortured and used.

Abandoned.

Shadows. They whisper.

Always taunting. But I like this whispering voice.

"Please. Ghost!"

The world lights up like a million suns.

What happened to Kamali? How does she know The Cadre? Why is she intent on killing the Queen of Terrasen, but doesn't want to kill Aelin?
