Bitterness was a word, a word with a meaning that rested deep in Remus's ribs [right under his beating heart]. When spoken, it always rolled off his tongue with understanding, deep understanding at that. Whether it was the taste of Molly Moon's birch wood tea or the sight of his scars from the nights of deadly escapades, which served as a reminder of what he was, Remus was heavily aquatinted with the taste and hurt of bitterness, a taste he now knows will never truly leave his palate.

But bitterness wasn't the only thing he was used to, another was loneliness. "Isn't it hard to be lonely in the presence of James Potter?" you must be saying, well James Fleamont Potter was the catalyst of this predicament, all this mess. Him and that girl were the reason for the sour taste on the roof of his tongue. Now I bet you're wondering what exactly caused it? Well, Remus John Lupin, for the first time ever, had a girlfriend.

Everyone in Hogwarts, from the teachers to the Slytherins knew that Remus was as shy and secret as a common maid with the brains of a late philosopher. Girls usually stayed clear of him, only interacting if it meant getting close to James or Sirius, he didn't know how he didn't pick up the signs with her or suspect her like he did the others. Some part of him must've thought she was different.
