Chapter 2 - Enjoy!

Hank's diner was probably a medium sized diner. The outside consisted of about 3 foot high of red bricks, and then windows continued up to the roof, so there was always light seeping into the diner, but there were also blinds that rolled halfway down the windows for when the sun was at its peak. The gold sign outside screaming 'Hank's Diner' consisted of a Lucida Handwriting type font, (Hey, I'm on yearbook, I know this stuff!) and a giant milkshake next to a bowl of ice cream.

Hank's Diner specialised in desserts. The apple pies and the cherry pies were all homemade by Hank, brought in fresh every day. The main courses were good too, but they were small to allow for a delicious dessert, which is why most people came here.

The diner was also the local hangout for the non-populars. A diner was way too mainstream for them, so they hung out at Starbucks. Yes, Starbucks. The place where you pay $6 for a cup of brown water. Not nice. Anyone with a name drank there though, as if coffee made them automatically mature. I had a sneaky suspicion that half of the people who go there don't even like coffee. You can only have so many hot chocolates before someone notices!

My phone beeped just as Dan and I threw ourselves into a booth, and our usual waitress Tracy shouted over from behind the counter, "The usual, guys - Meat and Hawaiian?"

"Can we get a medium pepperoni as well Tracy? And three cokes to go with? I shouted back.

"You got it!"

"Ava is on her way" I confirmed to Dan whilst putting my phone back in my pocket.

"Cool. So did you get anything good at the chess match for yearbook?"

"I'm not sure yet, I only had a quick look through the photos. I'll check tomorrow at club, we're nearly done so I don't want to start changing up photos now, we'll get too picky and it stresses me out" I started playing with hair to distract my hands. If I thought about yearbook too much it just filled my head with worry and I didn't want that to happen right now.

Dan smacked my hand off my hair and I ended up pulling out about 4 or 5 hairs. "Stop stressing El, it's going to be awsome, the entire senior year is excited"

"Um, ouch!" I cried, and threw the loose hairs at Dan's face.

He started dramatically flapping his hands at his face to stop my hairs touching him "Sorry I didn't mean to do that! But seriously if you keep stressing about the yearbook you'll have no hair left. Just chill, think about the cheesy goodness that's about to enrich our lives"

"You get rid of those hairs off the table kids, I can't have customers seeing those, you'll get us shut down" Tracy had arrived with our cokes with a stern expression on her face.

I swept up the hairs off the table and got up to put them in the trash and apologised to Tracy, who then left to see to another booth.

"Ohhh get me some toast because this is my jam!" said a voice behind me. I turned to see that our friend Ava had arrived, and she had the biggest smile on her face. I noticed that Iggy Azalea was playing in the background.

"That was the lowest of the low, Ava. How could you even say something like that?" I laughed whilst we sat ourselves back in the booth.

"What got you so excited?" asked Dan, taking a sip of his coke.

"Oh come on guys, like you don't know! It's my birthday in two days and I'm throwing the party to end all parties, my parents have just told me that they'll stay away all night. They're going to go and stay with my aunt for the night, so we'll be parent free and I am ready to boogie on down" Ava demonstrated by shaking her hips whilst sat down and waving her arms.
