Months went by, and the Mikaelson family found themselves, for the first time in a long time, happy and safe. They no longer feared their father's vengeance; with the wards around the estate, there was no way Mikael could get in. Even if he managed to get in, The Russian Ministry would intervene. Anastasia's parents came to visit, and Elijah's father-in-law told Elijah that, if necessary, he would use the killing curse on Mikael. Elijah was a little skeptical that it would work on an Original.

“I can assure you that nothing survives the killing curse. We have tried it on other vampires, and it is very effective,” Alexei told his son-in-law, “There has only ever been one case, but the boy had his mother's love to protect him. I doubt your father has that.”

Elijah nodded, “Even if that doesn't work, I have a weapon that will kill my father. I only need the opportunity to use it.”

“Then, I will help with that,” Alexei told Elijah.

Klaus, having heard them, entered the conversation, “Perhaps we shouldn't wait for Mikael to find us. Instead, we should lure him out.”

“How do you propose to do that?” Elijah asked his little brother.

“By setting a trap for him and using myself as bait.”

“Don't you think that's dangerous and a bit reckless, Nik,” Rebekah asked.

Klaus thought it was, but he wanted this over with, and the perfect way to lure Mikael out was to use himself as bait. Klaus thought Mikael would know it was a trap, but Mikael would never expect the Magicals to help him. If he and his siblings had never heard of the Magical World until Elijah met Anastasia, he doubted his father had either. And if Mikael had, it would never have occurred to them that a Wizard would help him.

So, Klaus and his family made their plans; Elijah knew it wouldn't take much to lure Mikael out, especially if he thought Klaus was alone. They decided that Klaus needed to make himself as conspicuous as possible in Russia. It was better to face Mikael somewhere remote to avoid exposing the Magical World. And if they carried out their plan in Russia, Alexei could have more Aurors standing by just in case things got out of hand.

So, the Mikaelsons traveled to Russia and stayed with Aryanna's grandparents in the Wizarding World. Once they were settled, Klaus was taken to the Mundane World so that he could start the plan. He stayed in Moscow for a while, causing some mayhem in the Supernatural World to get Mikael's attention. Klaus traveled from city to city, causing trouble as he went. He left a few bodies lying around to see if that would get Mikael's attention. It worked like a charm.

The Mikaelsons heard that their father was on his way to Siberia, where Klaus was now staying. Alexei had everything arranged with his Aurors to stop Mikael if necessary. The siblings were convinced that Mikael knew it was a trap. What other reason would there be for Klaus to be in Siberia? But they also knew Mikael was cocky enough to believe he could kill Niklaus. So, Mikael would go nonetheless.

It was early in the evening when Mikael arrived in Vladivostok. The Minister had wards around the city to warn them when Mikael came, but the wards faded when Mikael arrived. Now that the Mikaelson siblings knew Mikael was there, Klaus left his siblings to confront their father. Before Klaus left, he kissed his niece goodbye. Alexei apparated Klaus to the designated area, where he would face his father.

Klaus was nervous about confronting Mikael. He had spent centuries running from this man; it was unnerving that this was it. Alexei looked at Klaus and placed his hand on The Original's shoulder, “Do not worry, Klaus, the Aurors are in place, and I will be close by,” Assured his granddaughter's uncle. Klaus took a deep breath and nodded. The plan was simple: Klaus would feed on a few Aurors to get Mikael's attention. From there, he would lead Mikael to a deserted area, and then Klaus would kill the man who had haunted his dreams ever since childhood.

It didn't take long for Mikael to find Klaus. Klaus didn't have to make a spectacle of himself and feed on anyone. Klaus pretended to stalk his prey when Mikael showed up behind him, “I finally caught you alone, Bastard. Did your half-siblings finally leave you alone?”

Klaus turned to face his father, “No, Father, I decided to face you alone,” Klaus told his stepfather.

“You are no match for me, boy. What do you think you can do to me?”

“Nothing, but they can,” Klaus looked behind Mikael and nodded.

At that moment, several people popped into existence; they all had sticks in their hands and pointed them at him. Mikael was unimpressed. He turned to Klaus and laughed evilly, “You think these humans can save you, boy? I'll kill them all and save you for last.”

There was another pop, and a man stood between Niklaus and Mikael. He scowled at Mikael, “You will not hurt my family, Mikael,” Alexei told the Original.

Mikael laughed, “So, you adopted this bastard into your family?”

“No, but Niklaus is part of my family through my son-in-law Elijah and my granddaughter. Elijah's daughter.”

Mikael paused, surprised at Alexei, “I have a granddaughter?” Mikael questioned.

“No, you are nothing to my granddaughter, and I swear you will never see her,” Alexei declared.

“We will see about that,” Mikael stated.

Alexei raised his wand, “Yes, we will, Avada Kedavra!” Alexei yelled.

A sickly green light left Alexei's wand and hit Mikael square in the chest. Mikael collapsed like a puppet, having its strings cut. Klaus didn't waste any time; he took the White Oak Stake from his coat and slammed it into Mikael's heart. He wasn't going to take any chances. When the stake made contact with Mikael's heart, his body burst into flames.

Klaus stood, watching his tormentor's body burn. Alexei put his hand on Klaus's shoulder, “Are you alright?”

Klaus nodded. He felt numb, “I can't believe it. After ten centuries running from this man, it's finally over.”

“Yes, it is; come, I will take you to our family. I'm proud of you, Klaus. Thank you for ensuring my granddaughter's safety.”

Klaus smiled, “You don't have to thank me, Alexei; I would do anything to ensure my niece is safe.”

Alexei nodded. He held onto Klaus's arm and apparated to his home. It was time to celebrate.
