Arthur turned, raising his rifle and aiming at the person, but he didnt shoot. He couldnt. Not when he was met with beautiful, pleading (e/c) eyes staring into his. She looked so desperate as she opened her mouth to speak again. "Please, take me with you. I will work, anything, just let me stay." Tears began to form in her eyes as she spoke.
"Arthur!" A voice came from outside. "Hurry up, the cops are on the way!" He recognized the voice as Javier's. "Give me a damn second!" He shouted back. Arthur sighed and shook his head. "I can't believe im doin' this.." He mumbled under his breath. "A'right, come on Missy." He said, grabbing her hand and running outside. He ignored the angry words of the men as he gently lifted her up on his horse, making sure to not look up the bottom of her beautiful (f/c) dress. "Who in the hell is that Arthur?!" John shouted. "A lady. She needs us!" He said, quickly flicking his reins causing Baylow to speed off, the other men following behind. Nobody said anything the whole ride back. Well, except for John's scoffs and Javier's "Hijos de putas". It seemed like that was his new favorite saying, the amount of times he said it.
Arthur was greeted with many questioning- some almost angry- stares from the rest of the gang members when they arrived back at Shady Belle, but no one said anything. Except Dutch, who began shouting the moment he saw the new member. "Who in god's name is this woman, Arthur?" Dutch cried. "Relax Dutch, shes jus' some lady who needed help." Dutch scoffed. "So you bring her here? To camp?" He said, glaring at Arthur. Arthur took a step forward. "What happened to 'we save fellers who need savin', feed fellers who need feedin', and shoot fellers who need shootin'?" Arthur said in a low, intimidating voice. "She needed savin', so here we are." He added. Dutch sighed. "You're right Arthur- but since you brought her in- she is your responsibility. Keep an eye on her at all times." Arthur nodded.
"So, whats your story Missy?" Arthur asked, leading her to the room they both would be staying in. "And your name." He added. She frowned, sighing. "Well- my name 's [y/n]
[l/n]. My story- its a long one." She said, sighing. "I s'pose I can cut it down." [y/n] said, taking a deep breath. "My husband- awful, vile man that one- took great pleasure in layin' his nasty hands on me. I s'pose I just got tired of it and saw you men as a opportunity to 'scape from him." She said, slightly laughing at herself. Arthur nodded, slightly upset that a man who was supposed to love and care for her would do that. "Anyways, I never really got to say thank you." [Y/n] said, smiling warmly. "Yer welcome, Missy. Now, come with me, 'm gonna introduce you to Ms. Grimshaw so you can begin working later on." Arthur said, walking towards an older looking woman. [Y/n] followed without arguing. She knew she would have to work, and she was more than grateful that they were giving her some time to adjust. As Arthur and [y/n] made their way over to Ms. Grimshaw, someone caught [y/n]'s attention. In the corner of her eye she could see a blonde man with an unkept mustache and a rather large beer belly, watching her every move. He smirked as he realized she noticed him. [Y/n] smiled back, nervously. She didnt know who this man was, but she didn't trust him.
"This 's Ms. Grimshaw." Arthur said, introducing [y/n] to the woman. "She 's incharge of the woman and once you adjust, she will be giving you a few chores to do. Simple things, like washing dishes and laundry." Arthur said. [Y/n] frowned. "Now, why are you lookin' at me like that girly?" Ms. Grimshaw said, rather offended by the face [y/n] was making. "Its nothing just, can't I do something more?" [Y/n] said, looking up at Arthur with those same puppy dog eyes she had used in the bank. "Well- Um, I s'pose I could ask Dutch to let you come robbin' an' things.." Arthur mumbled, looking away. [Y/n] smiled, making Arthur blush. He had noticed how beautiful [y/n]'s smiles were and- no matter how much he disliked the feeling- he wanted to see them more. He was almost glad to be the one protecting [y/n].
A few hours passed and the entire gang had warmed up to [y/n], especially Keiran. He had introduced himself to her earlier, mentioning that he too was once an outcast- even though he knew the gang would like her a lot more, a lot faster. He still made sure to let her know that he was her friend, no matter what. Keiran had needed that when he joined, and he was going to make sure to give that to [y/n].
It was around 7 when the gang had sat down and began eating dinner. It was peaceful, the gang all sitting around the warm fire, Javier beginning to sing and play guitar when he finished his food. [Y/n] listened close, recognizing the song. She began to sing along, softly at first, then matching his volume. Javier had noticed this and began to smile, happy that he had someone to sing along with.
Their voices blended beautifully and the gang was absolutely mesmerized. Including Arthur. Especially Arthur. When they finished singing Javier chuckled and smiled widely. "Arthur! Why didn't you tell me this beautiful lady knows 'El Coyotito'?" Javier said, smiling at [y/n]. Arthur smiled. "I had no clue." Javier glanced back at [y/n]. "So um- if you dont mind me asking- how do you know the song?" Javier asked. [Y/n] thought for a moment, then smiled warmly. Not at Javier, but to herself. "My adoptive father used to sing it to me. He was mexican and his father used to sing it to him." She smiled sadly, thinking of the man she once called a father. The gang picked up on the sadness and decided not to ask anymore. Later on, around 9, the events of the day had caught up to [y/n], making her exhausted. She yawned as she turned to Arthur, asking if they could go to bed. He nodded and led her to a small room. It had a small bed with a bedroll layed next to it on the floor. Arthur slowly sat down on the ground and sighed tiredly, taking his hat off and sitting it on the floor next to him.
[Y/n] looked at him, then the bed. "Mr. Morgan, shouldn't you take the bed?" She asked, smiling. Arthur shook his head, frowning. "Missy, you need it. I can sleep down here." Arthur said. "But-" [Y/n] began to argue, but Arthur put his hand up, signaling her to stop. She sighed and climbed into bed, realizing he wouldn't change his mind. "Yer a stubborn man, Mr. Morgan." [Y/n] said, frowning and lying down. "Yea, I know. And fer christ's sake, call me Arthur."
