"I want perfection, understand, Siesta?"

My mother's voice was a scythe of ice, slashing through the room with a chilling authority, punctuating the eerie quiet.

I stood there, paralyzed, my heart rapidly racing as if it threatened to pop out of my chest. Unable to move or speak.

Tears filled my eyes, creating a watery haze that blurred my vision.

This was not the woman I had known.

It was a far cry from the mother who had once been a wellspring of warmth and love.

"Mom..." My voice quivered, a mere whisper, as I tried to make sense of the transformation before me.

The room, with its lavish furnishings and drapes, suddenly felt oppressive and suffocating.

In this harrowing moment, I felt like a delicate porcelain figurine, one careless move away from shattering into irreparable pieces.

This moment, I knew deep within my heart, would forever haunt me.

It was the ominous prologue to the collapse of our family, a turning point.

A/N: Sorry. A little lazy. I'll try wrap the backstory up in the next few days.
